But for now - when you weigh the cost of regearing just for using 33" tires, it's not worth the money in my opinion. As jump_n will tell you - he is running 35" tires with stock 3.55 gears. Truck drives ok - just lost a bit of power and when pulling a larger incline it will downshift. He is eventually going to 4.56's like mentioned above. If you want to get some of your power back - I would spend some money on an Edge or Gryphon programmer first. That will help to restore some of your lost power and fuel economy, plus it makes the transmission shift incredibly better than the sloppy stock programming shift points. And you can re-dial in your speedometer if it is off a little bit now because of the slightly bigger tires too. I ran 35's on my 2007 with the stock 3.73 gears for over a year - no issues. Lost some power yes, but the edge helped bring that back. I was perfectly happy with the way the truck drove. Wasn't worth the almost +/-$1,500 to regear for such a 'slight' improvement to me. Plus, you having an '09, you have a factory powertrain warranty for 5 years/60k miles.
Cool thanks all for the advice. I think I will stick with my 3.55 gears. My next investment will be a Tuner, as soon as they are available. The bad thing about having such a new truck is aftermarket parts are very hard to come by. I spoke to Ainta at Troyer Performance yesterday and they still don’t have software yet for the 09’s. I am waiting to hear back from Corey at PHP. I hope they come available soon.

Boz, if you're riding with Andy on the trail. I'll be there with you. He's going with me and another friend from work and possibly a few others from here.

05, it's even more painful than that!! I have the gears, and truetrac, master install kits, mag hytec diff cover... everything is in my garage ready to go!!!
Actually, the place I bought the gears from f'd up and sent me a second set of 4.56 Motive gears for the rear end and didn't charge me for them...I'd sell them cheap compared to new if anyone interested

Nice new sig again, 05!

Front derailluer broke on my tri-cross bike, so it's getting upgraded to 105 front derailluer. Boz, do you have any experience with those components? I'm thinking about having them upgrade my rear derailluer since I use that all the time.

They sell on Summitt for $210, I'd sell for $150 and that could be negotiable!

The Shimano 105 is a high end gear set. I have the Shimano 102 on my bike. They make some really good components for a bike. I like mine. The part that will cost you the most will be the cassette, if you plan on changing all your components over to the 105. You will notice a big difference when peddling with better components. The cost will be around $200 give or take for a whole set. So it will just depend on how much you plan on riding if it is worth it to spend that money to regear your bike.

And if you are going to re-gear your bike you might as well lift it and put some big tires on it too right?!

It could. I am not sure what gears you have on the bike now or if they would be compatible. If they cannot adjust the front derailleur to guide the chain correctly to the back derailleur over your existing cassette, you might have too. They will be able to tell you more if you have a bike stop replace it. I assume you are having either Cycle Works or Scheel’s do the work?

Using The Bikeway off 144th and Industrial. That's where I got my bike from 2 years ago.

I was a late, late start on the Taco ride last night. Got off work at 730, to the trail at 8:00pm, so I had a late night. Sure cools off on the way back home! Hope you guys had a good ride. I used my mountain bike last night instead of my tri-cross, since it is in the shop.

Yeah we had an awesome ride. There were 8 of us who went. It took us about 45 minutes to get down to Mineola. I think we left around 7:30pm to head back up the trail. We stopped at Margaretville for a bit. We got back to the parking lot around 8:30pm. I am sure we passed each either on the trail if you were heading down around that time.

You guys wasted no time it sounds like! That sure is fun to do. Steakhouse is an absolute nightmare after 8pm! takes forever to get a seat, besides the fact that the seating process is a joke anyway. Good things come to those who wait though, right?
