OMG this is fast!!! video.
I saw that video on the R1 forum once and I thought they came to the conclusion that it was fake? Just going from how fast the lines on the road were going by and how quickly it decelerates. That is one hell of a video though, fake or not.
Speedometers on sportbikes have been notoriusly optimistic on top end for years. Alot of times reading 15 to 20 MPH higher than actual radared speed. This has been documented many times in the bike mags. Your already going damn fast anyway so it doesn't matter much if your doing 190 instead of 205.
Joe,
After looking at Kuhn's pics it looks like you're going to have to do a lot of fast talking to get your girl to make some that racy.

A STOCK 2001 and newer Hayabusa is limited to 186.4mph in top gear. There is a fix for that called a TRE that makes the bike think it is in 5th gear when it is 6th.
A stock Busa will do 110 in 2nd gear, so I don't think 80 in first gear on a turbo bike is a problem.
Those things are insane fast off the showroom floor. I've been (according to the speedo) on one and that is scary fast. I don't think I will ever do it again. Too much stuff could happen on the street.
Just my .02 worth

I'm gonna raise the BS flag on this one too. Only reason is because the passing landscape doesn't even come close to matching the speed on the bike. I've been 130mph on GSX1100 and at that speed, the lines in the road are SOLID. Watch the landscape as the video goes by, you'll see what I mean. Especially where he passes the dirt U turn in the highway. You can see it in detail plain as day. At 200mph, you shouldn't even see the break in the road. Also from 140 to over 200, if you watch the lines in the road, they barely get faster. He's accelerating for sure, but nowhere near what the speedo says.
Marvin,
How's it going? Are you tired of being married yet. j/k.
My ZX9 did 60 in first and 90 in second. Actually by the time you made the shift it was sitting on 100. They must have the Busa geared up higher because of all the horsepower and top end.

SpankDog is right.
This is a fake. I've done a wheelie at 103MPH lift off, and it slowly sinks in, no chance of bounce at 140MPH. The wind plays a major factor at speeds. Also I never saw a helmet in the video. If he's going over 140MPH he must have his helmet in the windsheild. No way to hold your head up. And if wind catches your helmet at 140MPH + it will almost rip you off of the bike. Also look at the lines in the road. As was mentioned they are going way too slow. I figure that the speed is off by about 50%. There is no turbo on the bike either, because you would here it spin up and noitice it in the RPM's. Plus I wasn't impressed. I own an almost stock R6 and it goes just like that only runs to 15,500 RPMS. Plus as was mentioned the stock speedos are usually 8-10% off. So I say FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

Sal,
I agree with you on this... BS. Flew F-4s and the lines on a runway are longer than the ones on a public road. When you rotate the nose at 150 Knots TAS the lines are beginning to run together and the taxiways are definitely a blur. This one is a fake.

You guys are unreal
A BONE STOCK BUSA goes 200MPH!!!
there's busa's with turbo's that run pump gas with 300hp all the time.
you guys must not know how easy it is to go around a corner and go faster then 20 mph from a start. its not the same thing as a car at all.
the lines have nothing to do with it when the camera is facing forward. point that thing to the side and you'll be like WOW
and for the helmet, if you look at the video well you can see the reflection of the helmet. and the busa is allot longer bike so it wouldn't get in the way of the camera, and why would someone take a picture of there helmet the entire time anyway?
Where's beedcake when you need him?
