Once again, the word "elitist" is used. Do we L owners believe we are the elite in todays automotive economy? Is this $34,000 truck the market premium? Doubtful...not while Bently, BMW, Cadillac and Lincoln still exist. America is free, they can mis-represent the vehicles they own and we can scoff at them for it, but that act can hardley be considered "elitist".

For instance:
A full size F-150 4x4 owner who is an avid off-road/mud pond competitor is driving along and sees a newer Lightning. Upon closer inspection he sees the giant "OFF-ROAD 4X4" decals that come stock on 4x4 f series on the rear quarter panels of this particular Lightning. He thinks to himself, "Who is this dingleberry trying to fool?".
Said 4x4 owner goes home and jumps on his favorite f-150 4x4 forum and says"Hey guys, your not going to believe what I saw today". And tells them all about it. And they laugh and discuss the moronity of the situation. Now, is this elitist? The Lightning most likely cost more than the 4x4's they are driving and is also likely to be faster. Do they think they are better than us? No.

Now lets say that this particular 4x4 owners discussion makes it over here to the Lightning board. I can assure you every owner here would say generally the same thing,..."Ya know, we try to support our fellow Lightning owners as much as possible, but this guy is an idiot." That's right...us ELITIST Lightning snobs will be more than empathetic to the 4x4 gents plight and are also willing to poke fun at ourselves.

Once again for the hard of thinking.....were not BETTER......just DIFFERENT.....obviously different.
Lightnings are as obviously different from s-crews and broncos as they are from Escalades or Hum-vees.

How many Lightning owners do you see with "Syclone" or "Typhoon" badges? None. Are we "Elitist' Lightning owners better than them? They are just as fast if not faster than out L's and are nowadays more rare. You wont see any, not because we think our L's are better than Syclone's or Typhoon's but because we didn't BUY a Syclone or a Typhoon, and are intelligent enough not to attempt to pass them off as one.

Seriously, Frgetit. Re-read the first page or so of this thread. You will find remarks and comments that have nothing to do with product authenticity advocacy.

I've had people ask me why the hell I need a pick-up truck that'll put down damn near 400rwhp. The speed limit is 65-70 mph. "Why do you need a vehicle that can do 140+?", they ask. I say in response, "If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand anyway." This is like that, sort of. The big difference is that these guys don't want to understand. They like being able to trace their animous back to some imagined or cooked up fault in us, rather than back to the place from which it really stems...... Themselves! Somehow, our very existence makes them feel inadequate in some way. I can only imagine why, since I am not them. Of course, I am just speculating; since, I have no idea what is rattling around in another persons head. It sure looks like someone is suffering from an inferiority complex though.

Elitists? I'm sure we have a few here. Who decides who they are? You? Me? The moderator? The Wabbit? Who knows what motivates another person to say the things they say or think the things they think? Even with some personal knowledge of a person, that is next to impossible to know. To assume you have some insight to the motivations of a stranger, is just plain arrogant and stupid.

It appears that not only does frgetit adhere to elitist views but he would consider prosecution of a person for having views different from his own? What the? Sorry frgetit, there was a big war a long time ago where many people lost their lives to protect certain rights including one called "Free Speech". Try to read once in awhile frgetit, the war I am talking about was in all our elementary school history books....ha!

On a very serious note frgetit, as a F-150 owner, I did not come down here to the Lightning forum to antagonize anyone. I was doing a "search" of "centercaps" and this thread was pulled up. I clicked the thread on and saw statements that I disagree with. I commented on them. That is all. If you would actually read and comprehend what others wrote in this thread and what I wrote you would understand my intent.

I hope that we just had a misunderstanding. I think the intent of this thread was suppose to be "product authenticity advocacy"...I think. However, I disagreed with the statements I quoted in several posts. Thats all. I have been in the Lightning forums before. Infact many Lightning owners have provided constructive input and or critical information in my truck modifications.

Yes, lets agree to a truce. I am leaving this thread with my "blue collar" work experience, my ONE (1) college degree and my TWO (2) university degrees (major university) and my "white collar" work experience. However, of course, I will decide where and when I return to this forum. Later.
