Not bashing You Guapo,
Sorry if it seemed that way, Your not a wantabee, just put your name in the same sentence as them, "SORRY". But that post got totally out of hand and not only did you ask "WHY NOT JUST BUY A REGULAR F-150" but then you asked "WHY NOT BUY A REGULAR GT INSTEAD OF A COBRA" Because a 2003 GT has 260 HP and a 2003 Cobra has 390 HP, and incase you didnt know, a differant Motor, Tranny, Rear, Suspension, Fuel system, Computer, as well as Interior and Exterior. DID YOU KNOW IT WAS A DIFFERANT MOTOR. 32 Valve DOHC=Cobra / 16 Valve SOHC=GT.
My 96 Non-SuperCharged Cobra would have dusted a new GT.
What I still havn't figured out is why they didn't use that motor in our Lightning's. It's been bullet proff in the Cobra, I ran mine well over 7,000 RPM daily for 50,000 miles without ever having a problem. I know the Torque is the reason, but why not the 32 Valve DOHC ??? Could you see all of us running ***** out with 15-20 lb's of boost at 7500 RPM "YA BABY"

So is it trying to be a lightning if they only have the front bumper cover and fogs?

I agree, and the practice is also supported by nature. You see, the weak members of the heard usually 1) get whooped by every other animal on the street, and 2) usually are the lowest member of the pack and get whooped on by the pack too.

Gaupo--

This post isn't even related to yours....totally different topic...like I said...your post "reminded" me about the guys around here driving around fake L's (not real modified ones).

As far as driving a real Lightning that is so modified you can barely tell if it is legit....I like that people do that--after looking at them, I consider what I like (a shaker hood for example)...and what I don't like (certain tonneau covers).

Now my concern is whether or not I am going to the fake side myself by putting the new 01/02 headlights in!!
The stock 2000 headlights are fading and remind me of the front end of a 88 Mustang that sat in the sun too long

I STILL can't decide if I like the 01/02 tails better....oh well!

You guys kill me. You've got the baddest truck on the road and you worry about what other people are doing to "their" trucks. I don't get it. If someone wants to try and make their truck look like a Lightning, WHO CARES? You've got the real thing, be happy. Somebody putting Lightning wheels on their truck bothers you? Get a life. Oh yeah, slapshot, at least the weak members of the herd know how to spell herd.
Flame suit on.

I really think its cool when some guys take expy and give them the Lightning treatment. Its fake but you cant blame some guys for wanting to do it since Ford never came out with the Thunder!

I too wish Ford had produced a "Thunder". Not only did it look tough...especially if they made one in black....but at least it could double as a family grocery-getter.

Rob, I know the Cobra has a different engine. My question was about replacing everything... if you're going to replace the cobra's engine anyway... why bother even buying a cobra? Along with replacing suspension, transmission, etc...

Hey, my truck has the "tell tale" whine. Oh yah, it's not the M112, it's the M90 put together by Magnacharger. No, I do not have a Lightning bumper, no Lightning grill, no Lightning head lights, the tails won't fit because I have a style side. I certianly don't have any Lightning, or SVT badging. I have a 4.6 with the 5-speed. I'm well aware of where this truck ranks. I know I'm not even close to a Lightning. I do have a nice, fun to drive F150 though.

People do all sorts of appearance mods. The Lightning is a great looking truck so I understand why people would want some of the styling cues. It does seem that some believe that by borrowing styling cues from the Lightning will make them somehow better or faster than the stock version of their truck. It seems that there are many who really have no clue what a Lightning is. This is actually ok for me. I don't preasantly own a Lightning (plan too in the very near future) but I got more juice than a stock F150, even if it has some of the Lightning trim. It's one thing to be beat by a real Lightning but by a POS looking truck like mine! Fun!

Then, on the other hand... It seems that people who own "limited production" vehicles tend to be kind of touchy. Perhaps I would be too. Limited production usually translates to super expensive. The Lightning isn't super expensive, but it's up there. I guess we can't all have the best of the best. So people with "funding limitations" try to simulate ownership if a Lightning.

I don't know why I am particapating in this thread. I don't own a Lightning and am just a peeon in the whole scheme of things. I've got nothing better to do.

Some of us do have a clue!

Wittom, I saw your name and thought, "oh no he has lowered himself into the muck" but, not true. Good post. You have a good truck. I enjoyed seeing it run and meeting you. Sorry you didn't get your case of beer.

Speaking of Expeditions, here is my wife's Expy. Though I have installed Lightning wheels and headlamps, I would NEVER put the Lightning or SVT emblems on it!

Hey Wittom,

If you read this, post a relpy. I'm real interested in knowing how the 4.6 SuperCharged Motor runs in the F-150.
Is yours the 32V DOHC or the 16V SOHC?

And just for the record, As a Lightning owner I have absolutly no problem with anyone putting anything on there vehicle to enhance it's looks, even a few Lightning Parts. Just not the "Stinking Badges"
