Abuse of fake Lightnings
Not a problem guys I was trying to get everyone fired up I too hate it when someone tries to pass a slow truck off for an L. Thats is why I do not have the badges because mine technically isnt a real L on the outside but the inside is a different story altogether.
It is alot of fun having a sleeper though. I am not finished with the truck I still have to do the cosmetic stuff to her. Just wanted to drive her for a while. And enjoy.

Hey!
I was doing a search for "center caps" and stumbled upon this thread. I have only read 4 or 5 posts. I have got to say that this thread is predictable and pathetic! ha!
I bought a used F150 supercab flareside 4.6 with about 42,000 miles 9 months ago in the exact color I wanted (dark wedgewood BLUE) and it has two regular doors AND two "suicide" doors with a BACK SEAT as well as a TOWING package. I paid LESS than Half the price of a new Lightining SINGLE CAB truck. Infact, my payments are $250 a month (I searched for two months and used four free vehicle locator services to find it). With the addition of a SuperChip, Magna supercharger, Lightning front bumper, head light covers, lowering kit/drop shocks, swaybars, hard bed cover, color matched front and rear bump, front and back sway bars and head light covers, triple chrome plated oem "buzzsaw" rims and high performance tires as well as my recent purchase of a 9 pound pulley for the Magna charger, I have 19,200 in the truck (I still have a chip re-burn to buy). Yes, I hunted for deals and found them.
I love the late model lightning. But, I am not trying to "copy" a lightning. I have bought a basic design I like and am adding to it what I want. If I could have two trucks I would have the one I have and a USED Lightning. Infact, when the price comes down more, I will buy a USED 99' or 2000' Lightning. The cheapest I have seen a 99' Lightning in good condition was $23,000.
I am not insecure about what I have. If I wanted to go buy a new or used Lightning, I would have or could have. If I want to run as fast as a Lighting, I will go drive my car. Now, the 2002 or 2003 Harley Davidson supercab flareside truck that has the Lightning supercharged 5.4 is my dream truck!! But, I refuse to pay 35,000 to 42,000 for it! If I want a Harley Davidson, I will go out and ride my REAL harley Davidson heritage softail classic MOTORCYCLE!
To each his own I say, but I say to all you "wanna be snobs" what came first, the F-150 or the Lightning F-150? Which is copying which? I think the F-150 came before the Lighting. But, wait!, I guess if I want a Mustang style hood on my truck, I must be a Mustang wannbe?
.....and what will all you whiners have to say when the DODGE Ram with the VIPER engine blows your doors off? I guess if you have a lightning and modifiy it to go faster you are just bunch of "Dodge Viper Truck wanna bees"? Or if a early 80s Ford Ranger with a highperformance everything that cost less than half what your cost, blows your Lightning doors off, then what will you do? I guess you would have a major identity crisis! ha!
Putting other people down because they could not or would not spend as much as you on a truck is just pathetic! ha! ....and responding to a bunch of pathetic wannbe snobs like the ones in the early part of this thread, is almost as pathetic! ha! However, it was just too tempting and I could not resist.
I am glad that not all Lightining owner are like the ones in this thread!

IRON HORSE.....wow, hope you feel better...that hole crap load wasn't relavent at all......i drive this i drive that...woop ti doo !! i'm sure if i pulled up next to your REAL harley Davidson heritage softail classic MOTORCYCLE with a Honda Shadow with Harley emblems on it you wouldn't have anything to say but praise RIGHT??
ROUSHFAN-1,
Hey! Someone from the "above boards". The reason for my ramblings was to only show how stupid it is to attempt to put other people down for what the do or don't drive. Using terms like "fake Lighting" or "copying a Lightning" . Maybe some people actually set out to do just that. So what. I did not. I chose the exact truck I wanted at the payments I wanted. and will do whatever I decide to do because I want too, not due to the mentality of weird little "click" group.
As to my Harley. You actually raise an issue that I have seen time and time again. In motorcycle mags. and boards, I have seen so much crap about, "I have a bigtwin harley and I think little sportster harleys are for girls" or I have a harley and I think Jap junk sucks" or only panheads are true harleys, etc, etc. ALso of course is the issue of, "I drive a honda and the Harley guys will not wave at me"........What the? Who cares! To me, life is too short to act that stupid. Whether we are on two wheels or four, it would be nice just to focus on vehicle improvements and troubleshooting the mechanical woes we all have. The only reason I like beating Chevys off the line is that I have encountered too many guys with Chevys that think they are going to get a good laugh at my expense when they THINK they are going to take me at the green light. Of course they don't.
As too your honda shadow, what about it? Me act snobby. No way. When I do ride with others, I could care less what they ride, so long as we all have fun. Some people actually remove the harley emblems, some people put harley emblems on "parts" bikes, some people actually buy a 25,000 dollar bike that is titled as an Indian Motorcyle and has the badges that say that is it a Real Indian Motorcyle when it actually does not even have an authentic designed Indian motor, it has an S&S harley Evolution "COPIED" motor........BIG DEAL! Its their money, their bike, and their choice. If I ever got hung up on badges or emblems, I know its time to........get a real life!!! ha! To me, that is what motorcycling is all about, freedom of choice.
Look, I try to treat people like I would like to be treated, however I don't like snobs. If someone is trying to put me down for whatever reason, I can and will show why that will not work on me. Thats all. If you misunderstood the point of my post, I hope this post helps you to understand why I posted it the way I did. Or to put it another way, I was trying give the snobs in this pathetic thread a dose of their own medicine.
Note: I am not stating that in my opinion all the Lightning owners in this thread are snobs. Just a few.

Its all in the badging. If no L badges it's a nicely modified truck reflecting the owners tastes. If it has L badges it's a poser. IMO the only people with the right to attach an L badge are the people in the SVT assembly line.
I ride a Guzzi. I'd never even think of sticking Harley badges on it. I'm damned proud of Carlo Guzzi's 80+ year heritage.
OK, now I'm off topic and rambling ...

People really need to get a life and quit crying about things that don't really make a dimes worth of difference. To each his own and those who continue to worry about what others are doing and driving really need to grow up if it doesn't pertain to them or hurt them. The problem is that those who paid for a lightning don't like anyone who wants to copy a great looking truck because like Harley riders they want to be by themselves, some how Lightning owners think they are better than other F150 drivers. When I was a teenager I cared if my vehicles would beat others but at 47 I really could give a crap less as long as it looks good. I'm not in a big hurry to go no where anymore. Big F---ing deal, "My trucks faster than your truck!" "Wwaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! don't copy me, I'm so much better than you.""I have a lightning and you are too cheap and not as classy as me""I have taste and regular F150 drivers don't"" Some day maybe NASCAR will notice how **** I am and ask me to be a driver or something because they see how fast I can stoplight race in my lightning." "my lightning could win any truck show compared to other F150's" (except they all look alike and there is half a dozen of them in shows)
No problem Iron Horse as I ride a goldwing and not a Harley but my truck looks like a Harley and I needed room for my dog and stuff in the cab. )
Also with the addition of a powerdyne supercharger don't feel like my truck is all that slow either.
Be cool, relax and enjoy. Life can be good without jealousy and be thankful we live where we can have what we want. It appears that some lightning owners would rather live were look alikes would be punished as well as the ladies covered up.

What is a troll?
The term "troll" can mean a number of different things, but in essence, a troll is a person who aims to have 'pleasure' at your expense. There are two main types of trolls:
1)people who are psychologically disturbed, and seek to feel good by making other list members feel bad. This is a sort of "psycho troll", whose deception involves deceiving themselves as well as others. In this respect, they are no different to the sorts of people we meet in everyday life who are disturbed - some of them are easy to spot, and others aren't. Such people may even use their real names on the internet, and they may not even realise that they are "trolling" because it is all subconscious.
2)people who pretend to be someone that they are not - they create personae that you think are real, but they know is fictitious.

Wingford, you don't care how fast your truck is but you have a Powerdyne supercharger. How strange
.( Where's that BS flag when you need it?) I just have one thing to say: If you don't care how fast your truck is, You're posting on the wrong board!
There's a lot of guys here that take pride in their trucks, and part of that pride is making damn sure they go as good as they show.
This isn't a knock on the aftermarket supercharger crowd. I've read enough posts on here to know that there are some fast non-Lightning trucks running around, and that's great
. To each his own.
As for the snide remarks at the end of your post Wingford, This is the USA, baby, where I'm free to state my opinion for as long as I want to argue with the likes of you. I don't like my ladies covered, and I don't like poser trucks. And I do care how fast my truck is
!!

There are elitist. I think that here the percentage is pretty small but thoes in the percentile tend to post often. I have had the chance to meet some of the Lightning owners and I have found that they are good people. They are people who are proud to own a Ford Lightning F150, not stuck up about it though.
You might expect someone in a Mercedes, Rolls Royce or maybe a Lamborghini to act stuck up but a Lightning? I think these Lightning owners who are elitist would be the same way what ever "limited production" vehicle they owned. It probably makes them feel better about them selves. Thankfully it seems to only be a small percentage here.
Like I said earlier in this thread, there are some who borrow styling cues from the Lightning and some who don't have a clue that attempt to duplicate a Lightning. There is a big difference.
Wouldn't it be a pisser if Ford made all the F150's with the exact same trim. The elitist owners would have to get rid of thier Lightnings and get SRT-10's.

Well, I think Wingford and Ironhorse are leading the "small *****'s" pack here at the Lightning forums, no doubt.
To generalize is a true attribute of unintelligence.
"Lightning owners hate wannabe's because they think Lightnings are better!" boo hoo.
Go back to school Cotter. Not BETTER, cupcake...DIFFERENT.
I would make fun of a Lightning owner who put LAMBORGHINI DIABLO VT badges on his Lightning just as fast as I would a S-crew F series owner who put Lightning badges on his truck. Is it because I think Lightnings are better than Diablo's?......Umm....I don't think so sweet-pea....not by a long shot. It would be because it is moronic, useless, immature and insulting to Lamborghini owners worldwide.
So to my friends Wingford and Ironhorse I say, thank you for your obviously intelligent and well thought out argument, but is there not a Trailer Park somewhere SCREAMING your name gentlemen?
Good day......

Okay, if I was going to write what I wanted to say from the standpoint of a coherent, intelligent, non-adversarial approach, I would have witten my posts like Wittom. He articlulates the underlying premise I was attempting to describe.
I am just so tired of elitist attitudes. Pride in ownership is a great thing. Yes, I want my truck to go fast. I want it to look good. I think I have THE best looking and fastest truck in my little part of the world. I may think that another person's truck looks stupid or wonder why they did this or that, but I don't put the person down. However, maybe that person has other priorities like......food! or clothing and shelter for his family. Maybe he is just glad that his truck runs. Maybe some people would really like to have a Lightning but family crisis/ health problems or layoffs keep them from affording one, maybe putting on that stupid little badge makes them feel better. That is their choice.
Attempting to "openly" degrade a group of people in the manner I have seen in this thread is just pathetic. Yes, this is America. In America we can openly express our selfs. What is great about our country is that, so long as elitists attempt to "express" this crap, there will always be people like me to slam it!!!!!!!!
