Boost bypass not really needed??!!

Got told today by PSP (you know who) that a boost Bypass isn't needed and you should just disconect the hose instead. Then maybe buy your wife or girlfriend somehthing nice with the $25+shipping that you would have spent. Two questions....

Is this true and have you tested it?

If it is true, what should I buy my girlfriend for $25+shipping?

Not to discredit any tuner but my boost bypass has been disconnected since last December and it works great.

You don't disconnect the hoses, just the wiring. Check my gallery to see how it's done. It's the last pic on the first page.

Chickenears, did you really get that much of a drop from the Belltech kit? Your fenders look to be almost touching the tires. Or is that because of the 20's? Either way, looks good. I also like the look of the Cervini Ram Air hood on your silver L. I'm torn between which one of their hoods to get. I like them both.

heh... remember that you are talking to the mastah-phat-photochopper there, Chainsaw13

And I have tried both unplugging the bypass and the hoses that run to it... same results.

You can disconnect the solenoid and be done. It sets a code, but it won't trip the light. Cleared with a battery reset. Contrary to popular belief, unplugging the solenoid does not change what the computer does as far as fuel, timing, safe mode, or whatever.

2cool, I thought the same thing. I've been looking closely at the pic and it appears to be a photoshop job, but wanted to give Chickenears the benefit of the doubt. If I didn't have such a steep incline into my garage, I'd drop my truck that much.

Sorry SVTMoonshine to hijack your thread.

the necessary parts can be procured using the coins in your change holder ($2.50)

or simply unplug the solenoid for free

Get a tee fitting and your done. Why even put a code into your ECU? Paul from Paul's high performance swears it causes inconsistant times on his Cobras...and he runs the fastest N/A Cobras in the country. Good insurance, imho.

All good info.

Looks like I'll order a pizza and buy a 6 pack of beer and call my girl over watch a movie. And even if she doesn't come over I'll still have beer, pizza, and a cool truck to get a new one... girl that is.

My check engine light went on too when I unpluged mine too.

The boost bipass solved the problem, If you don't like the 25 bucks, go to the parts store and make your own for 2-3 bucks.
