No flame here Superfords, but I've had several vehicles aligned and no one else has needed to ride in the vehicle, as you said. Obvious joy ride.

Also your precious SVT tech's training consist of a two and a half hour television broadcast from Ford. That's real intensive training for you.

Did you ever stop to think Mr. Fordtek that some of your customers background may be as a ex/or still racecar mechanic that has worked on cars that you drool on. Or more to the point, you would not be allowed to touch with your greazy ****skinners.
Maybe, just maybe the "know it all customers", actually have some mechanical knowledge and remember they do drive their vehicle EVERYDAY and have come to know their vehicles quirks.
Remeber to Mr. Fordtek the customer you belittle is also the reason YOU HAVE A JOB.
The next time you see a customer, look at them as your reason for a job and not another pain in the a$$.
Remember YOUR in the SERVICE INDUSTRY
If you don't like it quit, start your own business. Then you can afford an SVT vehicle like us.
You are right I am in the customer service industry. And my fixed right the first time and customer satisfaction scores are second to none. But even so, you critique the way I may perform my job without having a clue as to what I should, or should not, be doing. I don't care if the customer used to work on racecars or go karts. That doesn't mean they are up to date on late model vehicles.

Reminds me of an old customer of mine. Didn't understand why his Ford Contour's five speed didn't feel like his old 69 road runner that he drag raced in the 70's. Hmm, there's an old race car mechanic for you.

And for some reason you still don't understand that racecars and SVT's don't put me in awe of your financial abilities. I can afford any ford, or most any other manufacturer's, product. I just chose not to purchase one.

GED Tek

Formally,
FordTek

Redneck... <-- 'Nuff Said.

Redneck, Hillbilly... same thing. I would hope you could pay cash for a $30,000 truck. Since I was only 20, now 22 and closing on a $220,000 townhouse in two months, I could only front 2/3 of my trucks cost in cash. At .9% financing it made more sense for me to leave the rest in the market. But since you're a redneck you never heard of that there thing called investing. Don't be a hater.

By the way I would have used MisterPee but it wouldn't fit on my vanity plates

As most of you already know on here that Ford Warranty work flat rate time suck $@#*! I was the first tech to pull an engine on a 99 L back in 99...and i called ford just for ****s and giggles to ask how to remove that big engine from the L....LOL They said they always pulled the cab off up in detroit...LOL Anyways you do have to halfway disassemble the L's engines to get them out...but i wrote on the repair ticket that i pulled the cab...and they paid me 22 hours! LOL
Anyways...if you want good service at a Dealership it never hurts to palm a $20 in you hand when talking to the tech..as i did yesterday when i went to my local dealership where i use to work and ask my friend Joe to burn me a copy of the 2001 Ford Truck CD-ROM so i can do all the EVTM troubleshooting and ECC work myself...

Personally, i think that some of the stuff i am reading in this post is nonsense. Personally, i do a lot of my own work, and if i can't do it (because i don't have the proper equipment), i go to shops where i know people, and have them do it right. This includes the dealer as well... I may not have an L, but i still take some precautions...

Also, anyone who would take 2 test drives to a modified lightning (kinda oxymoronic isn't it?), i kinda don't blame them, because lowering kits can really throw off the geometry particuluarly on independant suspention systems. Also, when you did your lowering kit, you could of also thrown things off such as caster & camber, besides the toe. And if i remember correctly, caster & camber are rather difficicult to adjust on an F150 because i think it depends on turning a couple of lobed bushings, and depending on how you did it can also cause a load of problems. Also, whenever i get an alighnment done, the guy i go to always does a test drive, and he does whenever he does any suspention work to a vehicle. It's called checking your work.

Then, i also see stuff like 2_FAST4U comlaining about shop time to do stuff like a wiper motor housing cover.... I wondered if he bothered to ask what the average listed shop time was (yes, they have information like that), as well as where it was located. I know in some vehicles, 6 hours is nothing... I'd hate to see you with a 4.0L aerostar van getting the plugs changed... if i remember correctly, it's a 6 hour job, because you do the front 2 from under the hood, the middle 2 from underneith, and you have to pull the dash to get at the back 2

I know i'm a lil off topic... however, i think that a lot of the people who post in this form have a tendancy to over-react, and not think about what they are posting. Like mattadams said about JeffsLightning, it's not like he was out doing donuts in the parking lot.

Also Fordtek, after looking at that post about the SVT training... what exactly does it cover? My guess is a lil info on supercharger repair & how it's setup, as well as some troubleshooting? because, i doubt there is a lot different from a L and a regular F150 What exactly would be so special that it needs special training. Sure things have been tuned, but how different is it from a regular truck, in terms of working on them. You order the parts and put them on, or change em... seems simple to me.

Well well we have something in common.
Tell you what, lets play for truck titles? Or some of ALL that money you have?
Name the club, I'll be there or I can set something up on the west coast if you like. I do not take credit, but this offer is very real. Let me know.

Man, this thread really turned into a good stress reliever!!!

It was also a good source for how Ford really does service business, because I am not taking my truck to dealer now!!!

Thanks Fordtek!!!!

I am now starting to catagorize Ford with my company as far as hiring habits. My company looks for experienced people in my line of work(semiconductor) that have experience with certain machines and it always turnes out that all these guys can do is bull***** their way out of a paper bag. The same must be said for Ford!!! I am firm believer in aptitude tests and skills tests, but we all know that is a waste of time.

I am not trying to belittle your skills fordtek, but if you would have came in here with a little more info and a little less harrassment we would have been more easy with you comments. But....you had to make yourself an a$$ and try to belittle those that feed you!!!

We are the customer, plain and simple!!!
