TimBurntire -

I should be more careful 'cause everything is relative. I believe you have said you are dynoing at 400 rwhp. I'm was at 383 with an just an old 01 program and headers. Added a new program, 2lb pulley and a T/B while in Ennis. I'm expecting over 400 this weekend when I hit the dyno. I don't believe in the "***-o-meter" very much but there has been enough increase to really notice a difference.

It seems that heads and cams don't do much for these trucks just like my long tube headers. I just wanted to suggest that it seems like a chip and a pulley will give you alot more than heads and cams.

I also think that if you want to squeeze every little bit out of your motor, heads an cams will give an improvement. Just don't expect 40 - 50 rwhp like might be advertised for other motors.

Sorry if I sounded negative, it sounds like your truck with these mods is pretty strong. What are your candid thoughts on how much your heads and cams were worth?

Anybody know where I can get a replacement blower?

Engine chroming to start soon. I'd like to get it switched out during the intercooler replacement.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Talked to Karkraft today. They only sell the complete motor.

I'll give JL a call.

I really appreciate the help.

You're correct to say that porting does not add 40-50 rwhp, however a cummulative effect, I think is what makes the difference. Exactly what that difference is, I don't know.

When I did the heads I did a 12.66 on my first try at the track. Not a whole lot of people running that, even today. At that time Diablo was in its early stages and did not have a very good chip. (obviously they are a LOT better now)

Since then a lower pulley has been added, electric fan, Cobra water pump, single bore throttle body, and chip upgrade. I have not dynoed it lately, so I can't give you an update, but with the latest changes I have less rotating mass than before.

Currently running mid 12.40s in the hot & humid SFla weather. When we get a cool snap one of these days we'll see where I end up. Some have told me as much as 4 tenths with 50degree weather vs what I'm running in............personally, I'd be thrilled with 2-3......you can see where that puts me.

Ihave also never had my truck "specific dyno tuned" (which is to say I get my chips thru the mail) Ask the guys in Texas what THAT personal touch does for ya.

Now, having said all of that......what do you think these new blowers will do on a ported and polished L with 6000 rpm cams! Where can I get a cage?

Like I said......we'll see.

PS......I run in the "full trim club" with ARE cap and all......not stripped out like some. (I did take my hitch off)

There is alot to be said for making the engine as effecient as possible. That's why I spent so much on the heads for my Ducati. Sounds like you will be very low 12's in full trim which is some kind of accomplishment!

I will be at the dyno tomorrow to try out my latest bolt-on additions. Still don't have the fan kit and water pump on yet but everything else is there.

I (along with many others) are waiting on some aftermarket heads that can help us especially on the exhaust side. Just think, nice heads and a bigger blower....time to beef up the short block and tranny.
