Question JDM's 01L Engine Blew???

Heard Jims 01L engine blew in TX??? Was it stock with bolt-on add ons or did it have other things done inside that caused this to happen???? Sorry to hear it happened...

Inquiring minds want to know, will we ever know the truth?????

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE EXISTING THREADS before trying to start something

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=52755
As I mentioned in the other thread as soon as the JDM camp know exactly what happened we will all know. Right now they are working out the details of getting the truck home. So lets patient and wait untill later this week when a full report will be available.

General Warning :I will NOT tolerate any intentional flaming on this subject. I was there, I saw what happened and I wont let the conspiracy theorists drag this subject in to the trash heap.

In the mean time to be safe, if you are running 11.9's with no NOS you might want to take it easy on your motor till the details are available.

DL, whats up bud!!!

I heard the same thing. Brian is in Texas now and I haven't heard from him yet.

It is probably true!!! S$#t happens!!! I am sure we will get confirmation as soon as Jim gets back from Texas.

It makes you think about not racing anymore, I know I have thought about it.

Hey 2_FAST4U:

How you been, Miss hanging out and racing with you guys..
Been working a lot lately, not much time to get on the boards...

Makes you wonder how long these motors can last ....I'm pretty happy with my L's performance, not the fastest L around, but faster than most...I may wait on the mod's for a while..

You have your L running good now also...Congrats..

take care,
DL

Unhappy

"will we ever know the truth????? "

Is an intentionally inflamatory statement. Especially since ther hasnt been time to determine what happened.

If you didnt intend it that way then edit it to say what you meant and I will remove mine.

The motor blew a rod. He was making a lOT of power using most of the tricks available to him including maxing out the boost.

Lets all be patient and let Jim get his crew and the truck back to Jersey and get it apart. He assured me that we would have full disclosure at that time. If not there were dozens of eyewitnesses on this board. You will know one way or the other. I dont think it does anyone any good to thrash thru conspiracy theories in the mean time.

Bummer. Never like to hear problems like that. Hope the rest of us can come away learning from this. So please share the mods and cause when the results are in. Hopefully just a defective factory Ford part and not over modded.

Shoot knowing those Talon boys they probably already did a motor swap and have him on the road home.

Dont worry, Jim has a few new crate motors laying around. I wouldnt be suprised if he dropped in a S/CDOHC 4.6,or maybe a Cobra R motor, but I am sure he will go with the 5.4 S/C and beef it up for 10's. Jason

Go to the local grocerystore and pick up the Enquirer, I am sure there are plenty of two headed 3 fingered alien Lightning babies coming out of NJ. Jason

I hadn't heard of anyone in the 11's without NOS, who else is in the 11's with no NOS

Thumbs down

A few of you guys sure are D I C K S! DL asked a simple question, and a couple of you are so hard up you have to try and "stickit" to the guy. I've got a local guy modding his Bolt and he's interested in what happened too. Simple questions DESERVE simple answers. And Silver 2000, you say you won't tolerate flaming or anything on the subject- SO GET OFF THE TOPIC! YOU ARE THE FLAMER HERE! (Give a peon a job to do here and look how he treats people) Control your mutt Steve!

something broke

I saw the run first hand. Truck was running 11.90's in Houston and I think he broke that time in Ennis all WITHOUT NOS at 16psi of boost!

I finally got to meet him and Julie and got some mods installed at the same time. If you guys saw the engineering that went into that lower pulley, you would be very impressed and confused as to how they make any money on that thing. I got mine professionally installed in about 20 minutes (thanks Sean). They did have spare blowers just in case but engines is another story.

One thing I did notice about most if not all of the L owners there was they are older (35 up).

You bunch of old farts!

Thanks DL! If it wouldn't have been for you, I wouldn't have known about JDM blowing the motor since I DON'T READ EVERY POST ON HERE!

Makes you guys wonder if shifting at 56, 57,5800rpm is best huh?
