DUH!

Knight

Steve's mutt? Who is flaming whom?

Looks like (from my point of view anyway) Doug's comment was aimed at potential posters that enjoy digging their meat hooks into JDM.

good day.

How do you get to 16 pounds of boost with that caged pulley he is selling? Or was he running an upper and a different lower pulley other than what he is selling?
It's always bad news when someone blows an engine!

All we know is that Jim was running in the 11.90 range in the 1/4 at Ennis which means he was making a great deal of power with both upper and lower pulleys. I don’t think he is selling either to customers at this time. At this point we think he broke a rod. They didn’t tear into the engine in the parking lot at the MotorPlex, but the holes in the block are an indication of a rod problem. Shaun and Jim are going to tear the engine down and see what happened. By the end of the week when they have returned to Jersey and had time to look at the issue Jim will post a complete explanation. PLEASE be patient and DONT fill this board with conspiracy theories in the mean time.

KnightS - If you have such a problem with me and the way the board is run why do you hang around? If you go to Dictionary.com you can look up the word patience.

A blown engine is Obviously a touchy subject and the warning above was meant for everybody. Not directed at just DL. The constant uninformed trashing of each other around here is getting really old.

Doug

C/C are you backin' out? (He knows what I mean.) FYI, I only turned a 13.223@104.37 Fri. nite. I'm still tryin'--btw, got beat by an 89 Stang(Paxton blower, heads, cam, etc. and a 396(?) ci Chevelle that nite but I put the fear of God in a WRX, modded Eclipse, and an 01 Z28.) My launches sucked--big time!

Dan

Makes you guys wonder if shifting at 56, 57,5800rpm is best huh?

"preemptive moderation" Thats good... Can I use that ?

Since you asked, Moderator Approval is a check box in the software.... 4 out of 19 posts you have replied to have been locked. That is pretty impressive.... I think what Ill do is just make you get your posts approved. LOL

Hey, lighten the F up. Why are you all jumping on Doug? He was just trying to keep people (like me) from jumping at the opportunity to say anti JDM stuff.

By the way I'm past all that crap. With all the important things going on in the world right now I can't bother myself with such trivial matters.

You are right, the way you moderate I would have thought it MUCH higher =)

To DL and everyone,

We're heading back from Texas now. I will give a full report when we get back to the shop. Please be patient.

Sometimes we never determine exactly why an engine blew. The only thing we can do is investigate using our best resources and make a conclusion from there. Right now, all fingers point towards one particular limit of the processor.

During Sat. morning qualifying, we went 11.96. The truck shuttered a bit at the top end. At first, I thought it was because we were racing into 35mph headwinds and we were getting pushed all over the track by the wind.

During the second pass, the truck started to shudder at about 800 or 900 feet. I was backing out of the throttle when the engine broke a rod. We went through the traps with a 12.36 @ 77mph.

Everything was fine on the pass before the 800 or 900 foot point: 1.65 60 foot time and 1/8 mile was 7.48 at 93.6mph.

Our three other 11 sec. runs in TX were all similar. In Houston, we ran an 11.90 @ 112.96, then an 11.98 @ 112.54. At Texas Motorplex, we ran that 11.96 into a 35mph headwinds mentioned above.

To all who have participated in Ennis FFW-
We had a great time meeting all of you in person. I have been to 7 FFWs this year, and I have to say Texas has been the best.

Thanks to all,
Jim@JDM

P.S. More to come we we get back to the shop in N.J.

Since I don't have a chip, I can't be accussed of bashing, can I?

From what I've read, Jim@JDM was purportedly working on a new blower with the ability to give more boost, I believe I read 18 psi. If you do a search you'll find he was expecting to be selling them around Christmas.
Maybe the new blower with the rear inlet and true, either 112ci or 166ci blower whatever you'd prefer to believe, instead of our 112ci top feed which will not be a true 112ci because your taking blower area away, is too much pressure for these VERY long stroke motors?

REDNECK- Jim was running the stock blower!!! I was there and saw it while looking his truck over. He did have upper and lower pullies, not sure what # they were though. Man, why do people wanna bash JDM?
Him and his crew were very professional and considerate of everyone!! They were polite and cut up and joked with all the L owners around them. Sean was very knowledgable and helpful on everything I asked him before installing the lower pulley!
Im sure JL and PSP are just as good at what they do as Jim is at what he does, I just havent used them. This isnt meant to start a flame war, just my dealings with JDM! I respect all the top three tuners and their abilities. We all are running great times due to the tirless efforts of all three of them! Thank you guys for all your efforts!

I got the privlidge of meeting with Jim and his crew when they were out in Ennis this past weekend. At the request of several TALON members they went an hour out of their way to meet up with all of us and do some work on our trucks. Those guys and gals are definately top notch. They were very professional, helpful, and knowledgable. They threw a pulley on the truck in no time. I had a Superchip that had gone bad for some reason and Jim did not even think twice about giving me a replacement no questions asked (I paid a couple extra bucks to upgrade to the flip, worked out great for me!)

A couple of us were standing around looking under the hood of Jim's 01 on Thursday night and either he or Shawn was telling us that they were testing the limits of the engine and the dual blower pulley setup they had and they were trying to break the truck on purpose to see what she could and couldnt take. On a few occasions they both noted to us that they thought the rods were the weak link in these motors. In light of what they told us and what happened at FFW it looks like they definately know what they are doing and I have the upmost confidence in Jim's abilities.

I dont post on this forum much due to all of the crazy things going on over here but I thought that this positive experience was worth sharing with all of you.

God bless the US!
