2) If you admit guilt, in the sue-happy culture we are in, the bleeding would never stop.
3) There are time, space and money constraints on any design. To create a totally foolproof and tested solution, might take so long that the market has dissappeared.

The word "blame" is so ugly and uneccessary. I don't blame the designer for trying an experiment with a 2 year test period. BUT: it failed. They learned from it and now the 2001 is (hopefully) better.

I would like to see Ford being completely "high touch" with this; replace all the parts with their 2001 updated versions. I.e. RECALL.

Else this will create bad resale numbers down the line for all 99-00 L's.

Absolutely! Considering the consumer screwing we are getting...this is my exact thoughts...a FULL 2001 UPGRADE FORD! At this point in time..there is no excuse not too...hell they just made 4,966 of them in 2000! 7,500 hundred will never be seen with a NASDAQ at 1980 and a DOW going down the tubes. Ford can afford to do a full upgrade. The way this issue appears..anything less. will cost them more in the long run...4 intercoolers..GOOD GOD! GOD HELP US...no ****

you know that "Special" in SVT can have 2 meanings too, like Special bus, Special Ed, etc. maybe some of us received Special Intercoolers, maybe we all did. maybe we should all get a black "sharpie" marker and note that " special" place on our reservoirs, and if it drops below that line, we can all say "Well isn't that special"

Sandy... Maybe you should reread my posts a little more carefully. I believe I said Ford made a bad part, it was probably subbed out but none the less it is their part now. It may cause a chain reaction a lead to the failure of other parts in some cases. Has it happened to you, I don't know. Has it happened to me, no. Could it happen, yes, could I get run over by a semi tomorrow, yes. What is your point? You chipped out your truck, do you want Ford to fix it when it breaks? Bet your sweet a$$ you do. Ford must love attitudes like that!

Dealer just called, said the intercooler is in, (ordered 7 days ago). Scheduled for 2 days install. And because I bought it there, he will provide a driver. Nothing to really bitch about as yet from the dealer. (Dare i hope for no problems?)(And perhaps THE NEW ONE ?)
Truck goes in Weds morning at 6.

Question

So, Curmudgen, what's the verdict? Did they install the oem i/c, or the (supposedly) new and improved model? My bet is on the old one, SVT told me that the "fix" is not due out until next month.

Tell me you didn't put that much water wetter in your i/c and/or your radiator? Hopefully you didn't, but the majority of us studied up on this subject a long time ago and realized more than 2 bottles (usually 1) does nothing extra.

Unhappy

Just for sh*ts and giggles KGM here are my mods: Carbon Fiber Dash and steering wheel cover,Black Ford oval, black grill, black tail light covers, clear corners, tinted windows, smoke fog light covers...Hmmm thats about it. So unless my dash kit has caused my IC to fail I feel I am just in griping about the constant double talk we keep heAring about these faulty units. And the total lack of confidence many of us are starting to feel about this whole scenerio. Its utter BS,and I feel I am justified in complaining about it. You don't want to read anymore about it then don't read anymore about it. But don't preach to me about mods and how I should just grin and bear this problem. When I hear my service mangr say he needs a day to see how extensive the damage is(pulling the blower etc) I get pretty freakin po'd. 30k for a non-aligned,clunk havin',poor painted, exhaust rattlin',IC failin' sonofbitch, which I LOVE.Well it makes me wonder about my sanity.LOL But hey,I'm just a consumer,so who am I to question all mighty FORD!?
