Post 2750 Intercooler assemblies 3-15

I called my dealer about my backordered intercooler yeaterday. ford said they were shipping 2750 backordered units on march15. thats quite a bunch for being an isolated problem. also i have been told by a eaton engineer that the by-pass puts air back through the blower when off boost so there is anti-freeze on the blower also.

It can't be a recall. SVT says that only about 1% of the intercoolers are failing, and I think they are all on this board

I am assuming they are the fixes because they have been on back order since nov. they said assembleys instead of saying intercoolers so what do you think they mean. this seems to go along with what has been said earlier doesn't it.

Hey Guys.
Relax, in the industry those parts are refered to as consumables.

If these are the new units that is good news, indeed. I might even be able to make it to Buttonwillow, after all. Got to check the Famoso schedule, too.

If it wasn't for this forum, I would have never known about the seriousness of leaky intercoolers. I have 22K miles on my 99L and over the last two months I have added at least a gallon of coolant to the IC reservoir. After reading all that has been said in this forum concerning leaky ICs, I took the L to the dealer today here in VA Beach. Will have a new IC installed and back on the road by noon on the 16th. Figure it to be a quick turn-over.

Cool

We got this here thing in Texas called the "lemon" law. It's kind of like California's "three strikes and yer out" deal. I've got two strikes on my intercooler or something. Now everyone here knows I don't abuse my truck....much. But I'm counting on getting one of them first 2750 units, ya hear. Lord knows I don't want a new truck cause I couldn't afford to do the mods again;

unless like I won the lottery or something. That would be cool!

Does Ford put these in other cars too? 2750, that is a lot. If only 1% of us had the problem, then there should be 275,000 Lightnings out there. I dont think there are. Including all the fake ones.

Well, I updated the intercooler sign-in, its for everyone, except for the 01 model owners, until a leak is reported in one of those, since Ford supposedly re-designed the intercooler.

For the latest update, page 3

Are these the new improved ones, or simply ones destined to fail again?

Considering there are ~10k '99-00 L's out there, I'd agree that 2750 units is a whole, heckuva lot!

Wow.

2750/8966=31% failure rate. Didn't I hear somewhere that this was only a problem in 1% of the trucks. (At my dealer, perhaps?) My A$$??!!??

I hope this is the real fix. Otherwise, they might want to order another 2750 units.
