Bought my 03 Lightning last week and now the trannys blown WTF?!?

Seriously yall, I bought it last friday from Grappone Ford in Bow, NH. 2003 with 25k on it, looked to be in great shape. Saturday morning tranny is slipping in drive, I run by the dealership let them know about the problem and say Ill bring it in monday (I work there). So I have to drive around in second until Im over 2k on tach, shift to third with OD off, and getting on the highway is a nightmare.
I live in Tilton which is right next to Laconia, and its bike week. So of course that night I have to do a decent donut for the bikers in WalMart parking lot =D
So I drop the truck off at work monday and my salesman calls an hour later saying it got towed by his window. Techs detonated the tranny on the highway.
No biggie, I took out full bumper to bumper and powertrain, thats what its there for.
So today a service writer calls and trys telling me that theyre not going to cover it because apparently someone who works there saw my donut (AFTER I reported the issue mind you). I went over his head and talked to the service manager who said nothing is certain, I authorized the tranny tear down, and the insurance company will determine whether or not its covered.
So what Im basically doing here is asking for advice with my issue. I think busting a donut after the issue was reported is completely irrelevent to the situation, and at this point I could care less if Im employed there Im going to take legal action if they **** me around. Im awaiting a call from my salesman with the previous owners phone number so I can see if he has issues before he traded it in.
I traded in my SVT Focus I had supercharged and a decent build on it for this truck, Ive come to LOVE it in the short time Ive had it but whats going on with the dealership is absolute bull****. I just want it back and running again, for free.

There are probably a bunch of people that know more about this than i do, but if you got the bumber to bumber warranty........then you should be able to do as many ********** burnouts as you want, did the dealership forget that it was a lightning??? thats why you by big horsepower trucks....to show them off. Like i said plenty of people that know more about this, but i'd take legal action if they try anything.

So you knew about a problem (tranny not fatal yet) and still beat on it which eventually resulted in a catastrophic failure? I'd deny you too and report you to darwin..

The truck had no issues with overdrive off so of course I busted donuts. There would have to be something inherently wrong with me if I DIDNT whip it around a bunch of bikers and muscle cars. But thats not the point here. The point is this thing should be covered, especially since I checked out svtlightnings.net and read about the built-in slip which breaks down the tranny over time.
Im thinking the previous owner beat the snot out of it before he traded it in, god knows I practically murdered my SVTF before I traded it.

I gotta agree with SLL on this one. That was dumb as a bag of rocks.

But the warranty company cannot deny your warranty just because you abused your truck. They have to prove that your donuts caused or contributed to the failure.

BTW, who is the *sshat who narced you out to the service writer? And who is the *sshat who narced you out to the warranty company? What kind of a-holes work there anyway?

Hey BlueHornet, welcome to F150Online. Youre dumb. =P
Thats what a warrantys for; Ive drove 3 Foci and I know ALL about it.
Anyways...
The service writer said the tires were a little cooked. I said so what. Then he said the used car manager saw my donuts. I said so what.
That service writer is a snake though, didnt like him from the start thats why Im dealing with the service manager, I told him straight up about the donuts and he agreed with me. I dont know if its been reported to their insurance company or not, but as it stands the first guy said flat out I wouldnt be covered and the manager said thats not true until they have it looked at.

Dude, don't listen to these clowns. That tranny was more than likely done and you just finished it off. Doing donuts is no big deal. Don't let the dealership push you around. It will suck though if you have to go the legal route cause it is a slow process.

First of all you should have NEVER admitted you did the donut
Second when someone CLAIMED they saw you do the donut / donuts
the first thing you should have said was BS it wasnt me and unless that have a picture of YOU doing it and YOUR license plate then there is simply no proof.
Third if they dont pay for it 100% leave the truck there, call the loan company and tell them you bought the truck the tranny went, they wont fix it, and you gave them back the car. As soon as they pull the loan payment on it WATCH HOW FAST THEY FIX IT

I just have to hop in here and add my two cents. I think donuts are completely stupid. Especially if you were having problems with the tranmission before you did them. But that's just me. I hope they fix the trans for you without anymore fuss, but if they deny the claim it's noones fault but your own...

if you do this, you must keep paying on the loan for the truck, you signed the note and you are obligated to pay it, not the dealer. Your credit will get jacked if you turn it in and the loan is not satisfied.

Can't do that Rob, it's registered as a surrender of credit on you. I traded in a Bronco on an explorer back in 2000. Everything was done , picked up the truck on a monday night, said they would run the rmv1 form in the morning. Got a call the next afternoon saying they won't register the truck because they made a mistake and gave me too much on my trade and wanted me to come down and work it out. I called my lawyer and went down there and told them to give me my paperwork and there's nothign to discuss. The purchase and sales and finance paperwork was signed, and it was your loss. I was gonna just leave the new truck there and walk away, but my lawyer said I couldn't to just pick it up and drive it that he had all the paperwork in the works and he had contacted the registry so if i got pulled over in the next couple of days to call him. I finally got a call after calling the owner of the dealership with an appology saying to come pick up the registration. I wrote letters to ford and answered their survey in a bad way. Got a free set of folding chairs and the finance manager got fired!!! Anyway.

Anyone notice that he drove it to the dealership, but it got towed back when the techs took it.

What you should have said is "What donut" even though it was stupid to do wiht the tranny on the fritz. A small problem could have turned into a big one. Then you should have said " I drove the f'n thing in here and you towed it back!!!!!"

New Hampshire has real crappy warranty policies on vehicles. On used vehicles, there is no warranty for the most part.

If you documented the complaint of the failure before the donuts.......you drove it in there, and then it came back on a tow, then you should be set.

Don't start making waves with people just yet untill you get an answer.

Your biggest mistake is once it happened, you should have dropped it off right away instead of driving it around. You should have just left it there Saturday. Hope everything works out. If it doesn't, check with your credit card company. Pay to fix it with the card, dispute the charge stating they sold you a faulty warranty policy and held your truck unless you paid for it. Provide them all the paperwork. When you dispute the charge, they take the money back from the dealership until it is settled, which can take some time. They may say f'it and warranty it to get paid. Try anything.

The worst that can happen is you end up having to pay for it.

I can't believe any of this is happening, considering you work there. Jesus christ. Brutal. First thing i'd start doing is looking for another job. They don't even take care of their own, I can't imagine how they treat others.

Extended warranties are bull****. Pure bull****. I bought one with my lightning and after my old man's motor blew, and the bull**** he went through, i cancelled mine and got a good chunk of money back. I'd never pay for another one. My girls' focus has gone in twice under the extended warranty and it ended up costing me. Clamp on a battery cable failed, shorted cable, battery an alternator. Under the warranty, the cable and battery are not covered and because of that they couldn't cover the alternator because the cable caused the failure!!!!

Then the back window wouldn't go up. They took it apart. They said it was some small plastic piece on the window unit that failed that wasn't listed as a part covered under warranty. I was like so write it up as something else for christ sake. Nope , we can't do that!!! WTF???

RANT OVER. BOYCOTT EXTENDED WARRANTIES!!!!

Remind me never to buy a used vehicle that was owned by you.

Hey bird.. I'll be starting the build-up hopefully before friday. Trilogy kit.

On topic. I'm riding the fence on this one. Yes, you bought the bumper-to-bumper.. so in theory, they should fix it with no questions asked. But you did rag on it knowing it was "injured".. That was 100% your fault.

Like mentioned before... it didn't detonate untill the tech drove it, and we all know what those guys do when the owners aren't around.

Good luck getting it settled.

All very good points, Im leaning towards pulling the loan if they **** around and writing the letter to Ford. I will be looking for a new job because I have absolutely no confidence in this company anymore.
Still, IMO doing donuts is irrelevant whether the tranny was acting up or not. Im pretty sure it had nothing to do with its demise either; it acted the same when I drove it to the shop and I dont know what they did to blow it but...they did. That truck is built for it, I know that trannys sturdy, and its most likely an issue that was there when I bought it therefore THE DONUTS ARE IRRELEVANT and I want a new bloody tranny!
