regarding Spark Plugs
It seems fairly evident that the miss must have been due to the loose coil, so it really didn't get a fair test. I did some research on plugs, and according to NGK you are not going to see any dramatic power gains with ANY plugs, as long as they are not misfiring. Hence the cease and desist against splitfire, et. al. I had already ordered a set of TR-6s before I went on the trip, and I picked them up today. I like the looks of the Torquemasters, though, and now that I know the cause of the miss I am still up in the air about what to install. The TMs may be more expensive, but in the long run they should be cheaper due to the extended service life. What the heck, I already have the NGKs, I will probably put them in.

So far I'm very happy the the NGK's. I wished that the TM plugs that I was running could have received a fair trial.
I know there are a number of L owners who have ordered the TM's and they should get back to us with better info.
ib fast's mis-fires were also on his Spitfires indicating that there is something wrong with his L. Once again, not a good test for the TM's.

I looked for youe e-address but couldn't find it to let you know.
I have noticed that the NGK has almost eliminated the rattle. I still have to do some more testing but what I have now is: cold, I still hear it but not as loud. Hot it seems to be almost all gone which excites me.
I'll still be listening but at least it gives me a little relaxation knowing a little what it is instead of not knowing at all.
Let me know how your sounds after the change.

I think that if I were going to monkey around with exotic plugs I would be inclined to install the Densos rather than the TQs.

I think I speak for ib (because I have read his notes regarding the TM's) but we both ran the plugs but there were problems with both L's that caused red warning lights to go on and mis-firing when the plugs were in. So, I'm afraid that our testing was for naught.
I know others have ordered them and should be installing right about now. I would guess in a few days we should start hearing some input.

hey masterloggie, i took the tm plugs out and put the splitfires, which were burnin a nice gray back in. the truck had a slight miss with the stock plugs, probably a coil, and it was still there with the splits, and the tm's.the splitfires are the only one of the three that improve response alot.a big sotp feeling compared to the tm's.the tm's respond a lot like the stock plugs.ran them on the same morning, and the splits win hands down over the tm's.also when i finnally got in the twelves,it was with the splitfires.the tm's i had were the 8s,maybe someone else will have better luck with a different #7or 6.the reason i did not try the ngk is that there one step colder just like the tm's that i tried, and i read no posts of improved response.

Ibfast,
You must have a coil prob with that misfire because mines smooth as silk with the Splitfires. It's hard to explain the throttle response difference until you experience it. Mine are burning a little darker tan with the R9 chip but still look great. I see what you mean about fishtailing with the chip mod. You can still tear the rearend loose at low speeds. You notice the response difference chip or no chip.

hey ltnbolt, you noticed that for all the smack people talk about splitfires, that there the only plug that has a noticeable change from the stock plugs, posted on this board. i admit i was a bit skeptical my self.if i ever go with the juice,i would then go with the ngk's.as far as the miss,it only happens at cruise, never when your on it,and i have an appointment to get that looked at under warranty this morning. later

ibfast,
I know what you mean. The modem's on but nobody's home. LOL. I was skeptical about the splitfires too but they turned out to be a great plug for the L. They are not going to give you some great track time improvement (no plug will) but when you smack the pedal down you'll find you tires don't have the same amount of traction they use to. When
running down the road and you floor it the L jumps out with more authority. Go figure.
They seem like a bargain compared to the $5.99 NGK's (price posted on another board don't know how accurate this is).
