Ahh Sal, Hello, I thought we were talking apples to apples here. That is late model, EFI daily driver to late model EFI daily driver. No need to muddy the waters by bringing up all the trailer trucks. That's a whole different discussion altogether. I'm not here to start any trouble. In fact, I'm an admirer of Lightnings as is fast dak. The truth of the matter is Wyldman started it by talking a little smack. That's fine, we're all big boys. Just don't be surprised when you throw down the gauntlet that some doesn't try to pick it up.
I've known fast dak(chuck) for many years. I used to street race with him in Houston. I have never seen him ever talk trash-win or lose. He doesn't do it and doesn't like it done to him. He's a true sportsman.

Cool

Hey Wyldman, you da man!! Now I definitely want a ride in the "black beast". Maybe we'll get lucky at the San Antonio rally and see "another Dachoka" get spanked.

All in all I have one comment here... and the lines have really been blurred over the last couple years on this..

But, as my dad work his a** off for ford for over 30 year to put food on the table and shelter over 3 kids heads... remember.. we're talking about all american cars here.. which keep real americans at work.

I know the next argument... and I agree... the big 3 are moving over seas and the japs are building plants here in the USA.

But, I will *never* buy something that hurts an america worker.. I can still vividly remember to this day what it was like for dad to be out of work for 18 months, back in the early 80s.

I also respect the fact that the chevy/mopar/ford fight will always be a heated battle... and I love it.. a friend of mine as an RT and my best friend has a grand national... we race all the time... blah blah blah... but in the end we're talk about america iron.. at the end of the day we're all still friends... and we all drink the same beer...(budwiser)

Thats just my $.o2

and this is for my RT friend...
if it wasn't for RTs and such other lame trucks, would we really know how great our Ls are? (ok, I'm buying the first round tonight)

1BadDAK, being the strip & internet veteran, that you are, the key word is a "little" smack, concerning wyldmans' narrow victory. i sure didn't read his posts as demeaning anyone or any brands. these are new trucks, with many of the owners new to the world of drag racing, and most of us are just excited to be able to compete on the strip in a full sized truck. people with older vehicles with 318-360, 302-351, 350-454, have a huge advantage, that they can simply open their Summit/Jeggs catalog and decide how fast they would like to go. we can't, for now.

Let me say this...

I wasn't trying to be offensive towards anyone... I was just trying to say we're all race fans at heart...

I'm not even going to begin getting into the 'real american' debate, what we are or are not.

American muscle cars is all I was talking about.. period... end of story. I am in no way shape or form prejudice towards any type of person.

I will not reply to this topic again.

Wyldman..sorry to have taken your record so off topic... congrats again, ny new hero!

Mr BBQ,
I only wish that were true. I would concede your point if we were talking about an old Lightning, but unfortunately there's just not much available for my truck. With only a few exceptions, you pretty much have to work with what it came with. Moreover your dealing with speed density here. No conversions to mass air for us.
This is not a brand thing. It's a competition thing. I've been a Ford and Chrysler man all my life. Chuck E. has no brand loyalty. He drives a Ford and just sold a low 12 second T type last year.
I am surprised about Wyldmans lack of response. One would think the guy who started all this would like to have his say in the matter. Mr Wyldman, are you out there? Hello!(echo)...
Tom

One Bad Dakota,

I have to be awake to read and respond. I don't really care what your opinion of me is, since we have never met face to face. In actuality, I am a very nice guy and don't talk smack much. I ususally have the moxie to back my words with actions that have already happened.

My initial post was just poking a bit of tongue in cheek at Chuck, his truck ran on street tires against Beastie and still almost caught me. If you'll notice, I was very mild in my description of the victories.
"spanked a little as well. Twice!"

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Fast Dak (Chuck) and am dismayed that my post was interpreted out of context.

As to the two power adders being necessary, consider this: 1/2 ton of weight difference between us. I didn't really expect to win either pass after reading what Chuck's truck was capable of. The track came and went that night and neither of us was really getting all the bite we should have.

Chuck,

I would be honored to run against you anytime, you were a gentleman and I enjoyed visiting with you at MTI and the track. I hope this misunderstanding won't affect what I hope will be a friendship.

MrBBQMAN: Thanks, ran a couple of both motors in the past and never had a problem spending money.

MrKGM: Think he was saving space, had to do fenders, flairs and fairings. Smart kid!

The fairings are the ground effect peices that are behind the tire well and 80% of the rubber was concentrated there...
