As title reads, is there any mods out there that will increase our already slightly less than stellar mpg?

If you can't afford the gas, you can't afford the truck is the way I look at it. If 10 dollars a fill up puts people over the edge of their spending limits, then they are living beyond their means. (Not saying you iride, I'm just tired of all the moaning around here.)

 

Easy mod to increase gas mileage!

Remove the supercharger belt.

The prices are getting up there but not nearly enough to get rid of the L! I was just curious. I guess i'll have to cut back on putting those ricers in thier place for the time being.

 

I just read a article in Popular Science testing all the so-called "milage enhancers" most of them were potentially dangerous to the motor (falling apart and getting sucked in) some electrical devices caught fire, and none of them improved gas milage. Most cost atleast 20hp on the dyno. Best way to improve gas milage on the L would be adjust your driving habits for your daily commute.

 

intake, LFP E-fan, & EM Grounding kit are three well proven mods to help out mileage. guys on NHTOC have posted a 1-2 mpg increase from the EM Grounding kit. sounds unbelievable but too many trustworthy guys have posted up similar results from the kit. also a tonneau cover to reduce wind drag on the tailgate

then just keep a close eye on proper tire pressure, stay out of boost, and dont drive it like ya stole it, dont drive 80-90 on the highway, use cruise control when you can, and thats about all you can do for the most part

 

remove your S"C belt and watch the gas mileage double!

 

Here is mine also doubles as winter transportation. Actually its everyday car the sits in the garage?It is hard to admit to a Honda so go easy on me

Even my v6 Mitsi-whatever gets schitt mpg

Unfortunately 101% of my driving is OFF parkway
The Mitsi is now costing me 15.00 a day to drive absolutely NO WHERE.
The L is prob now costing me .50 per minute to drive
BUT STILL WORTH EVERY PENNY

Went up to 3.79 per gallon here, as of tonight

 

There are no cost effective mods that will raise fuel mileage to any acceptable level. If fuel costs are too much for you the L can be sold, replaced by an efficient DD and a very fast bike can be added to the toybox.
Really a dependable daily driver is probably the best bet.

So your suggestion runs what about $800+ for 1-2mg? So if I get 13mpg right now then I could count on maybe 14mpg for an increase of 7.7%. So then I could save $0.27a gallon so dividing that into $800.00, I would start to see savings after 2900+ miles. (I am sure Tim will correct me here).

You know thats not a bad return, but with those mods you would still have to keep your foot out of it. It's sort of like dating the one twin, but your not supposed to have the other, but hey she'll never find out, right? In other words temptation will quickly take away any benefits that were realized before hand. At least that's what would happen to me.

 

I live in Alaska and well my Lightning only gets driven for three months out of the year, but it gets far better mpg than my f-150 reg cab 4x4 (with the 5.4) does when I drive it in 2 wheel drive all the time. I wish you guys would allow us to open ANWR and build the gas pipeline we want so badly, but it seems the majority of individuals in the lower 48 seem to think they know what is best for the Alaskan environment. Besides we have the largest oil field in North America and the Alyeska oil pipeline (one of the largest in the world) runs through where I live, and we pay just as much or more for gasoline as the rest of the nation does. To me that makes no sense, but on the brighter side of things I am still going to drive my truck no matter what fuel prices go to.
