I wish you guys would allow us to open ANWR and build the gas pipeline we want so badly, but it seems the majority of individuals in the lower 48 seem to think they know what is best for the Alaskan environment. Besides we have the largest oil field in North America and the Alyeska oil pipeline (one of the largest in the world) runs through where I live, and we pay just as much or more for gasoline as the rest of the nation does. To me that makes no sense, but on the brighter side of things I am still going to drive my truck no matter what fuel prices go to.
The usa dosent want to use its own oil, were going to use everybody elses then rely on ours later, its the american way!

That and the fact that if we started using only our oil you could expect heavy taxes on it.

honestly its our own fault. all our eggs in one friggin basket. they fought anwr and atlantic coast drilling and there hasnt been a new refinery built since 1976.

maybe that 4$ a gallon will get some of those tree huggers thinking about the bigger picture.

I dont drive my truck much anymore anyway. Its a cool dust collector tho.

oh and gas saving measures.

get a light tonneau cover
E fan
and for the love of god stop mashing the gas pedal like you are mario andretti or something

Ah...nope. I removed the belt for a week while I waited for the rebuilt snout. No improvement in gas mileage and it sure wasn't any fun to drive.

In spite of the nay-sayers... YES there are things you can do. And do for cheap too!

When mine was stock I was driving mixed hwy/city about 100 miles a day. Being an OEM engineer I'm **** about things like efficiency. (I spent some time measuring temps and milage during my commuting)

The absolute number one thing that will effect your milage is driving technique. With the power, handling, and braking these things have it's so easy to feel like your driving a 3200lb sports car. But your not! It's a 5000lb truck homies! Accelerate at a reasonable rate and antisipate stops. This will go much farther on milage than any bolt on mod you can buy.

Here are some things I found to be of effective milage increasing "mods". (all measured results)
Mobil 1 5w-30 oil
Over inflate tires by 4-5psi
AC off
buying non oxygenated fuel

At the time I was averaging in the 18mpg range. Saw a best of 18.8 too.

Some other mods that I've seen less than desireable results with. (mpg wise)
e-fan
bed cover off/on
open air filter
dyno tune
aftercat

The latest things I've done was to remove the cats and egr. My milage is CLEARLY lower now. It's a toy truck to me anyway, but I did drive it to work for a week datalogging. My milage is now down around 15flat. And I drive like your grandpa too.

I don't believe the grounding kit claim for a second.. If put to a scientific test, it will get shot down every time.

That's fine... I'll just sell my mods and trade the truck in for my next ride.

Same problem, the dealer won't give you a good price either.

This would be the absolute worst time to be selling a pickup or SUV.

If your gonna do so? Wait til prices settle and people "get used to it".

Yep, I paid 3.89 last night filling up the 05. And it only holds 15 gallons! No wonder the gas gauge moves as fast as the tach.
