Whats Up wkuper11,

If you need any help getting back on the road, lets us know, I am sure everyone one will pitch in and help any way we can. I am going with a built block now, just waiting for another block to come in. So, when I pull out my stock block, I can hook you up with a good deal if you want, its an 04 block with 12000 miles. My plan was to just put it on a shelf, but I can't leave a brother in need. Lemme know man. Later and Sorry

Phil

Hey guys, alot of my Parts are going to be on NLOC's classified page if you want to check them out. I will be selling/traing my parts for $$ and stock parts. unless anyone is interested in buying the truck as is. thanks for all your tips and support. hopefully I can fix or get rid of this thing and save up a boatload of cash for the next gen lightning.

Those seem to be the most damaging thing we can do to these engines

Good Luck ...
Why is this type of run the most devastating?

Some say it is the instant on HP from the kickdown. After watching the A/F I believe it is the fact that the MAF cannot react fast enough, and the motor runs lean.

I have a Dynojet Wideband Commander on my stock truck, and can watch that happen in real time...

Cruising on the interstate in OD, mash past 75% throttle or more, and the truck will kick down to third and rev up a lot faster than the computer has time to squirt in more fuel. During cruise the A/F typically stays around 14.7-15, and a kickdown and resulting HP spike at that A/F can kill an engine in an instant.

My suggestion for a kickdown/pass scenario would be to push in the OD button and turn it off, roll into the throttle, and give the truck much more time to react with A/F adjustments. Just my .02

Keep an eye on e-bay. A complete engine and trans with 26000 miles went for $3,000.00 and there is a current listing for a 2000 engine complete for $2500.00. It may not be the engine of your dreams but it will get the truck moving and give you lots of parts to sell......................

I came very close to trading it in, assuming I get it fixed first. I also have a couple of offers to buy the truck as is. I think I have ruled out built motor b/c of the $$$, I just can't see spending that kind of money on this truck, especially If I will be trading it in, in a couple years for the next gen lightning.

Just an update guys, I have been tearing down the motor to make labor less expensive when I get the used shortblock in there, I found a 4-5in diameter hole in the block on the passenger side just below the motor mount extending down to the oil pan, a piece of piston was found on the frame rail, it was cut in half and mangled badly. I did pull all the plugs and they all looked fine. the motor should be out on my next day off and then I will get the used motor in there. any tips on pulling the motor out? right now I just have to pull the crank pulley off then the timing cover and it looks like there will be enough room to yank it out.
