yes I still am under warranty, but I'm not even going to try to have ford replace it, they gave me enough trouble over a foglight

I have too many mods that can't be removed, like the magnum blower, I don't have the stock blower.

Jim I may interested in the deal for the stock short block. or my other option is to get a built "long block" and do the install myself. I may just get the stocker and trade it though, but trade it for what? whats out there? I've never known anything but ford, and I'm only 22 years old with student loan bills so the trade in would have to be something less than or equal to what I paid for the lightning. It looks like the built long block will be around 10k or just under which is a little out of my price range right now.
Drain the gas and see if it indeed has water in it or not the right octane. If it was their problem you can get a new engine courtesy
of your local Mobil gas station.

Hopefully you paid by credit card for proof when you got the gas and kept the receipt....

I had this occur on me when I had my Gen 1, do not blow engine it just would not run anymore. The Mobil station manager wrote me a check for $650 for the tow and local Ford dealership flushing the tank clean injectors etc. when I brought a test sample into the station with bill from dealership. I was not the only person he had to pay.

Bad Gas really is the only thing that makes sense to me right now, I was really beating the truck, or driving any differently that I normally do. It was 80 degs outside, and humid. and the truck went bang 5 min after I got the gas. I did pay by credit card but unfortunately I did not get the receipt. it will show up on my bank statement I think. is this something I should look into? I mean if it was a bad tank of gas how do I prove it? and would they actually pay?

Never say never. I had similar mods except a atpen port instead of the magnum.

don't want to post all the details but shot me an email at halflife96@aol.com and I will let you know what to do and who to speak to if you want to go warranty.

Bad gas can do it right away, In New Jersey it is Full service only so you cant pump your own gas. On severall occassions I have heard of people asking for 93 or 94 and only to look over and see the attendant pumping 87 in. Im sure this might have not been the case however. I would drain it to see if its the right octane and or if there was water in it.

On another note Walt, If you do want to return it back to stock and warranty it as a last option you said you dont have your Eaton anymore. I have a case here you can borrow. I also have a short block with 6,000 miles on it, we are ready to give you a great deal on it. Anything we can do we are more than ready to help you with. Just call the shop and ask for me or my Dad.

Good point as I had a station pump gas into my old diesel chevy wagon. They ended up payig for it. In my case it was little easier to prove and it might be more difficult unless like you, others also report trouble.

yeah years ago my father started a new business in the bronx, he had a bronco and then like a week after he started having problem with the truck running. Could not figure out what it was. Well come december the gas station 1/2 block from he new job had its tanks freeze up and explode / crack because they water in their gas.

The day I melted 3 plugs was a result of bad gas
Another sec staying on the pedal and I'm sure it was bye bye motor.

Cut the filter in half and see if it looks like this

My truck had only 5K when that happen, gas came from Amoco
NEVER USED THAT STATION AGAIN

If you find it all funky like mine,
I'd say you got a beef with the station alright
(don't know if they'd pay for a motor, but with a good Lawyer in time you'd prob get SOMETHING out of them ???

AND THANKS Jeff MY BROTHER

Max, me have something go to my head, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

About returning the truck to stock.

I have a 2002 stock blower and lower pulley assembly sitting here that you are welcome to borrow. Did you also weld a bung in the exhaust? If so, you may be wise to find a stock pipe. The bung is the first thing I'd look for if I were looking. Also, check the firewall for scratches from pulling the blower studs.

I know its a pain to put the motor back to stock, but it could save you thousands. I would find a used Eaton(Jim's), put the stock pulley back on, and take a shot with Ford.

yeah why not put it back to stock and get a motor from ford. Of course its there responsibility that you added a different blower probably doubled the boost and chipped the truck. He!! they should always warrenty a 11 sec truck, just like all the vendors will out there. Funny how when I used to buy any performance parts they had no warrenty however everyone expects ford to warrenty aftermarket items

Is it a blower from jdm? why not get them to warrenty the engine that could have blown due to doubling the stock boost?

Nothing like being responsible for your own actions.

If the gas is bad then go after the gas station but if its ok why go after ford. If you didn't like what ford gave you in the first place then why did you buy one?

Nothing like fraud to stop ford from building the next gen L or maybe they should just keep increasing the price of vehilces to cover the costs of people who can not take any responsiblity for their actions.

I agree with black 150. Please don't screw Ford. It's ***** like this that made me go through Hell when my motor blew because it had no wrist pin clips. They did not even want to look at anything except that I had mods. I had to agree to pay for a new motor if they pulled it apart and found just a broken piston. When they saw there was no wrist pin clips and the pin had come out of the piston they agreed to give me a new motor. The guy from Ford finally told me the reason they are so hard is because so many people try to screw them and make them pay for problems caused by mods. Sounds like you are an honorable person and will do the right thing. I really feel sorry for you. I do know how you feel. When my truck blew I was shure it was the mods until they pulled the heads. Then I got lucky and it was a Ford problem. Even though it was Fords fault they were going to try to screw me because there was so much of this ***** going on. In the first few years of the L Ford bought many motors for guy's that towed their trucks home and put all the stock parts back on. I'm sorry but that sounds like stealing to me! Someone has to say it..........you gotta pay to play.
