Well this just shows that power isn't everything

Last year with the Hotchkis suspension I just couldn't run a good number, even with my full out race program.

Over the winter I redid my suspension, I now have Bell Tech front springs, stock rear springs and 4 new shocks.

Now I am able to get off the line a lot better, I actually knocked off a little over 1/10 of a second in the first 60 foot.

I am sure at some time this season I will run with my race program, turn up the boost and remove the tailgate, spare, and front sway bar and go for a mid 10 second run.

well, I don't know what you guys are talking about.

but since my truck won't run 10s anymore.

I want this thread to get to 10,000 views.

so don't get it locked suckas...

P.S. Johnny, once I get my motor fixed, I'm removing the entire body of the truck. I'm gonna sit right on the framerail and I'm gonna run 8.99@ 150! no cage, no cab, no nothing. just me in the wind...

consider this fair warning!

Holy Schitt this is like reading war of the worlds
OR SOMETHING ?
TG I had something to do while reading

For people that don't know OR UNDERSTAND why people like Vinnie, Don, Bill, + Dale (and soooooooooooooo many more) built THEIR LIGHTNING THEIR WAY who cares.......
It's not your Lightning, you don't have to understand

Vinnie for instance built his L his way because he wanted to do exactly what he's doing, drive it cross country beat it to death for 2 or three days in a row, take 1st prize in a show, and then know he's driving it home. For the people that know him, also know from day one his plan was to "YES run a #"
and then Bracket Race, and Show the Truck, thats exactly what he's doing.

The few people I talked about "and many others I may not personally know" are the top of the top, these are the people
(other than tuners) that truly have a ton of money and the best of the everything in their Beast's. THEY LOVE THIS SCHITT, just like I do (they just happen to have money trees, hehehehehe)

Now Chris on the other hand took his skills, expertise, and connections, and went and built himself one serious bad a$$ Lightning (just like the Brothers I mentioned) but prob saved himself 10K - 15K doing it (actually, prob more than that)
What Him and the rest of these Brothers choose to do with THEIR L's, is their decisions AND I BACK THEM ALL 100%

you know I could have just said:
it's like a gun, I rather have one and not need it,
than need it, and not have it

hmm

Why do you guys run street tunes on race gas.......I see that alot, street tunes and race gas
A street tune for a 10 second truck is alot different then on a somewhat stock truck with bolt ons. I agree, more insurance than anything. Last year I made a pass on my street program on pump fuel. Then i put in 104 race fuel and drove around the pits and let it run to get the race fuel going........made another pass. No difference.

Then i reset the computer swapped to my race program and made a pass. Not quite a tenth difference, but i spun comming off the line and it was in the heat.

This post has just turned into a general discussion post hasn't it??? Hehe

I agree with evrything Rob said, except for the cigarette
Just wondering how many of you have the ability, or true passion for the vehicles to do what Chris did? Or did you just buy yours to sit in the garage so you can say you have one?

That's some funny ***** Rick. I never understood the take out the seat and remove the tailgate deal. I want to know what my truck will run on the street when I end up next to a C-5 at the traffic light.

Do you honestly think he drove up to sals place to just get an hp number? I coulda sworn he went there to try to tune his nitrious properly

I'm sure a major part is most people wanna be able to say they have a truck running such and such time. It's called. . . .achievement. I didn't know this was a difficult topic. I'm sure the other part is. . . well chris probably wants a fast truck. I know i know, thats silly.

So .. . by this you mean to say no one should be attempting to run 10's otherwise they will be deemed jokers? No doubt that the safety issue is important but I hardly see that as the issue in this case for your arguement. To the best of my knowledge chris hasn't run a 10 yet anyway.

I kinda see what your saying, i don't think these guys are trying to run 10's and bail. They want 10 second trucks, but they don't want cages in their daily drivers. They makes their vehicles fast and when they do their runs they step off. They made what they wanted.

I think he was replying to Vinnie's dumb *** remark
