Hand porting vs Machine porting the Eaton

I dont mean to get into a debate like the old what blower is better debates we've had on here. I am just looking to get some information on the different options we have on having our blower ported.
Apten is offering a machine port for $550 (ceaper with group buy on nloc) and some have claimed they do great work to the outlet of the blower.

REM is offering a port also for $300 but theirs is a hand port job. Can anyone with expierance compare the two for me?
Thanks, Shane

I have a question to add: How do you think the epoxy will hold up over the years?
Basically, is anyone worried about a piece of it coming off?

What I did for mine, hand porting myself:

http://captainoblivious.tripod.com/truck/blower.html

I can't provide any before dyno numbers, but I do have after dyno numbers:

409hp & 491tq
A/F is between 12.2 and 12.5 until 4200rpms, then it drops to 11.9 (and gradually goes to 11.5) until 5400rpms. Don't remember timing off the top of my head.

Mods are:
  • LT's with single magnaflow muffler
  • 2lb lower pulley
  • JDM air filter w/ 2 hoses going under it (homeaid cool air)
  • Ported blower and plenum myself.

Thanks captainoblivious for the link. Looks real good. Is that pretty much what REM does? I know they port it by hand, but would you compare the two meathods to each other?

That hand port looks similar to what I did to my blower case last year. I gave mine to 10secL because I got a KB and never tried the ported one.
The epoxy should hold up okay, but even if it does fall of it will fall on top of the intercooler and big chunks won't be going into the cylinders.

I'm also curious to know does plugging up those 4 wholes make the blower louder? Also, it doesnt cause any problems does it?
400HPHD great minds think alike. Are you thinking of porting the Eaton also? First the drop shackles, now this. We're going to have identical trucks... You have any pics of your L?
