What I did for mine, hand porting myself:
409hp & 491tq
Mods are:
- LT's with single magnaflow muffler
- 2lb lower pulley
- JDM air filter w/ 2 hoses going under it (homeaid cool air)
- Ported blower and plenum myself.
Those are real good numbers for a 2# lower. Thanks again for the write up. Your blower looks real good. Would you suggest mine would look similar to yours after I send it to rem? My 2nd question is, the benifits of hand porting vs machine porting...
Is machine porting much better than hand porting?
thanks, Shane

There's some other tricks that Apten uses when they port the Eaton... Its not just opening the outlet.
They DON'T plug the 4 holes... I don't know the reason, but there is one.
I'd rather have mine machine ported, knowing I'm getting the same exact results each time, other than a "hand job"

Shane, the only difference is in repeatability. A CNC mill is programed based on a blower (or heads, intake manifolds or whatever) that are first ported by hand, then digitized. From then on, the mill can accurately duplicate the port hundreds of times over. The mill automatically cycles through the different cutters needed for different parts of the port, and the 'agility' of the mill is based on how many axis it can rotate. Either 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 axis...with the really high end 6 axis mills being in the million dollar range (such as Hass). Those high end mills use stuff like laser alignment, and offer extreme precision. The hand port can be just as good, it just depends on the skill of the hands with the grinder. I woulnd't excpect huge gains if you try this yourself with a dremel and without the aide of a flowbench to measure your progress.

Thanks rscoleman, I surely dont plan on doing it myself. i do like the job captainoblivious did. I just am debating over taking the cheaper way out, and saving $150 or spending a little more to have it machined. Plus I've heard great things about Aptens job and I know that they dont just port the inlet and outlet. They
do have a little trick they do to the bottom end also. Jeff can you post pics of the bottom end yet???

Shane I have no preference over hand porting vs machine. All I want is results. You know who I'm partial too.. I have seen allot of results from the one porting place vs the other. Not that the other place is bad but all I can go by is results and I'm proof to that theory. Do you want to borrow 150 bucks?
