Question Any known problems with 03 L’s ?

To be a little more clear, I have heard and read on here of the head issues on the 01’s and I believe the 02’s of which I understand is corrected on the 03’s.

However, are there any known issues with the 03’s or any recalls for problems? Getting close to trying to make a deal for one and wanted to know what to look for. If there were any recalls I wanted to make sure any recall work had been done. There new 03’s but just getting any facts together I may need.

It is not a for sure or done deal by any means, but just want to be prepared should the cards fall my way.

Thanks for your assistance.

01's, 02's, 03's.............

its the same ****, errrrr crap

Until the Gen III's hit the payment, you would better off buying a used Lightning at a better buy in. Unless your like some of these hi-rollers that want to put a built short block in, or an aftermarker blower, or even cams

I think I'll take the plunge

Wow, that makes me infuriated just reading about it. I couldn't imagine owning a brand new vehicle and going through all that. Are there any "Lemon Law" type regulations up in Canada that might allow you to trade the truck in/get some sort of refund? Thank goodness we have a "Lemon Law" in place here in California which protects new car consumers to some extent.

No lemon law here in this Sh*it hole,

I was fair, I told KNUT SMITH of FORD MOTOR COMPANY in CALGARY, ALBERTA that I want trade assistance being the Lightning was down for 3.5 weeks for a transmission.
Nope, we will work the bugs out he says; if it blows another transmission or motor I may take it to Oshawa, Ontario and approach them he says.
Finance or Lease your vehicles guys you are more likely to get warrenty because Ford Credit it the financer. after this stint I' am leaseing or financeing any future SVT' s.

Many people have had little to no problems with the 03's. Some people just live under a black cloud. Ever hear the saying" making a mountain out of a mole hill"? Take the post refering to all the problems with a grain of salt.

Maxtorque you stupid *****,

Below is from another post of you showing you know it all. I' am convinced you don' t know your *** from a hole in the ground.

I see Kyle is still banned, goes to show how smart your friends are.... . Telling Doug to F-off was not very smart. LOL

I might be able to help if you give us all the details. Electrical problems can sometimes be a bear and like the dealer said you might have to resort to going back to the way it was before you had the problem. Often times it's a matter of elimination to track down an electrical problem.

When the deck was installed
When was the first time the problem occured and the symptoms
What was the dealer diagnosis and what did they do to correct it
Any other accessories installed and when (alarm, remote start, amps, subs, lights etc)
2nd trip to dealer, what are the details
and what are the details on the 3rd time
what did CC do to diagnose the problem

Did you go to two different dealers and why? Is this the 3rd dealer now that you have gone to?

By filling in the details and the time frames it will be much easier to offer some help over the internet. I've done a lot of work with installations and I worked at my dad's auto repair shop for a few years while going to school. Good luck and hopefully this can be resolved.

It appears that your alternator is putting out a good charge, but your symptoms sound like a loose wire or a bad connection somewhere.

My 03 seems pretty good so far. When I drove it off the lot I had 2 minor problems that were immediately fixed.

The first problem stemed from them not letting people test drive the lightnings, and the truck developed flat spots from sitting in one place for too long. All 4 tires were replace and the problem was solved.

The second problem was the wiper switch. The wipers would come on randomly without me touching the switch. And that problem was solved very quickly.

After all the problems that I had with my 98 dodge that was brand new, so far this truck is alot better quality. "Knock on Wood"

No problems here

My 2003 has beat my expectations everytime I've driven it. It's been to one on-track event and 3 drag racing events, no problems.

No kidding, no dealers let anyone test drive the Lightning? I mean if they are qualified to buy, but yet to decide?

I could understand just not letting someone come in off the street to take one out, but then it does seem like a good idea so you don't get some dink take one out and wind the chit out of it before the next person buys it...

For me personally, I don't need to take one out anyway. I KNOW I WANT IT!!!

I didn't think radials got flat spots, but I guess if they sit long enough in one spot they would.

That is something I will have to keep my butt aware of since this dealer has 5 - 2003 that have been on the lot for at least 2 - 3 months, don't know if that is long enough for flat spots, but it's got the warranty so I'd use it in a heart beat...

That sweet thing is winter is near and now they are priced at $27,995
