Ok I am now lost, who stood up for themselves? It was NOT the original poster who stood up for himself. All that person did was act immature and invited more trouble upon themselves, very stupid if you ask me but then some people love to whine about how the world is against them.

Also, about my lights being aimed too high, I have checked for this plenty of time. I usually park in front of garage door or the house so I know where my lights are aiming.
Again I am sorry some of you disagree with me, but I am not changing my feelings towards this officer. You say they deal with all these hardships, if they don't like it then go work somewhere else. I deal with scumbags all the time where I work. They all want their cars fixed for free, or they bring em to you, you fix em, and they never pick them up. It is my job so I deal with it, I don't cry to anybody or treat my other customers like crap because off the bad apples. Plain and simple, this guy has a hard-on for the younger crowd, I guess I will just deal with it. If the lights are illegal then I have to turn them off or face music. Thanks to the few that see eye to eye. No thanks to the stereotypers. -Mat-

This is the law for GA on foglights. And yes some people need to learn when to shutup and show some respect. The originator of the thread sounds like he is getting rode extra hard b/c of some sort of vandetta against him and that is wrong. I know there are some major pain in the azz cops, but if you think they are harrassing you, then file a complaint with their supervisors, and if it doesn't get any attention go to the next level. Another thing I guess I will never figure out is why everyone wants to speed. The faster you go the more momentum you carry, ----> the more violent the crash will be on your vehicle and your body. Yeah I know, but you know how to drive, but you don't know when someone will pull out in front of you or something will break on your vehicle and you won't be able to controll it and crash. Thats fine that you know how to drive but when you have a wreck and someone is killed or seriously injured trust me you will think of this thread then. Don't take this as I say you should not drive fast, but that is why tracks are open and why they will always be open. As far as being stopped for stupid reasons, such as lights, ect. if you don't agree with the law call you state representative, don't get mad at the officer. The representative makes the law not the cop that stopped you for the violation of that law. Also these laws allow that officer to stop cars and ID the driver/passenger and get the serious crooks off of the streets. Did anyone know that Timothy McVeigh was arrested by a Oklahoma State Trooper who stopped McVeigh for a simple traffic infraction? Ted Bundy and Wayne Williams were also arrested because of a traffic stop. You would be suprised how many serious criminals are apprehended through traffic stops. Just read:
Macon, GA 08-15-2003
A SAFETY STOP LED TO THE SEIZURE OF 210 POUNDS OF COCAINE...
A DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY OFFICER STOPPED A TRACTOR-TRAILER IN BANKS COUNTY BECAUSE OF A "SAFETY CONCERN".
OFFICERS SEARCHED THE TRUCK AND DISCOVERED THE DRUGS.
THE DRIVER.. HECTOR MANUEL PONCE ALDANA... WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH TRAFFICKING COCAINE.

And one last little bit of information before I get off my soap box while we are talking traffic and "real criminals"
One murder every 27 minutes
One aggravated assault every 31 seconds
One violent crime every 19 seconds
One crime every 2 seconds
One property crime every 3 seconds
One traffic fatality every 13 minutes
One traffic injury every 9 seconds
One traffic crash every 5 seconds
One traffic property damage every 7 seconds

Criminal acts and traffic crashes both result in personal tragedy. Nevertheless, the fact remains, traffic crashes affect Americans each year more frequently than criminal acts.

Is there a website like that for every state>??? It states that the vehicle may have 2 foglights but can they be on>??? I looked for a site with CT laws but didn't really come up with any. I will have to ask an attorney, and if I am wrong do the right thing and deal with it. Thanks for that information though. It is appreciated.

i didnt read the whole thread but i got about halfway and just gotta insert my 02 cents.
This thing i hear some of you say about cops being high and mighty and us being the lower end is bull****. im sorry. If your 50+ you should feel even more so. I know times are changing but i honestly thing governments have grown far too intrusive in this day but whatever the case, no, the cop isnt god, you give him his power to protect the majority. Yes he is an enforcement official and yes he should be an *** at times (perhaps even in this case) but to say that he is above all is a horirble thing to think. The day we all succumb to things like that is the day weve lost democracy, oh wait .. . . that happened in the 60's.
In anycase, get on the other side and see, if your fogs are really bright and infringe on other drivers, out of respect for them turn em off please, if not, the cop was being a ****, eff him. Test it out sit opposite to your truck in a *low* car to be sure. I HATE when people drive with lights that are improperly adjusted and blind oncoming traffic, its a harzard and it can get people hurt.

You don't actually think we have lost democracy and have less rights than we had before do you? Go visit some other countries and then you will realize what it's like not to have any of the freedoms that we can enjoy. The USA isn't perfect, but it's damn better than most any other place. I bet there's not to many 19 year old kids(or most anyone for that matter) running around in Lightnings in Russia, Turkey or Afgahnistan.

That is a link to check CT law. I could not find anything about fog or driving lights. It is also super late and I am tired so it is possible I may have overlooked it. Hope that helps, and if not try calling the state solicitors office, they should know. Another idea is to call who ever handles the tickets, here in GA it is usually the state clerk's office, and see if they know about such a ticket.

I don't think anybody was trying to say that a cop is god, at least that's not the message I got from all this. The message I read is that the cop is in control and they are the authority figure. To challenge one will only get you further in trouble even if in the end you can prove you are right. It usually makes more sense to do as they say rather than pick a fight or show up their authority. All that will get you is more trouble, which will cause one to spend more time (and possibly money) trying to get out of the trouble.

If you can't beat them, join them. I got a ticket for supposedly running a red light, cost me like $110 or something like that. Spent $50.00 joining the local police association, slap the sticker on the back, haven't gotten a ticket since

I was just reading this entire post again... and it shows that every person has their own views....
but I will be the first person to agree there are cops that misuse their power.... but the bottom line is that they are cops... I said it in an early post of mine... Cops have the ability to follow laws as well as bend them and create what ever they want... its not right by any means and I have fell victim to a cop creating bullship 2 times.... If a cop wants to be a ***** he will be, if he wants to arrest you, he will... and he will bend the law just enough to get away with it..........Yeah its great to say on here "***** the cops" I have news for everybody... any day someone on here has enough ***** to say to a cop to go F-cuk himself, let me know... i will fly up to where ever you live and I wanna see him arrest you so fast you wont know what hit you.....
THEY ARE COPS....
WE ARE NOT.........
IT IS BULL***** BUT THEY ARE THE LAW....SO ACCEPT IT
Driving down to NJ, I got pulled over for at least 15 mins... for no reason what so ever... some young 21-22 year old state cop was on a power trip and wanted to bust my ball$ and he did....now he started question me about what "illegal substances" i had in the truck... no friggin need for that one... but if had started being a smartass and gave him an attitude , don't you think he could have been a total **** and started to search my entire car... granted I had nothing... but he can do what he wants, he knows how far his authority reaches....
But in other peoples situations... if you feel a cop has stepped over his bounds, AND YES THEY DO NUMEROUS TIMES... go down to the state/police departments and file a 51-A on that cop (police complaint that has severe repercussions for cops if they really did bull***** the law, may be a different report in other states) But if a cop mentions in a report that you were being a wisea$$, or not co-operating, there is nothing that is gonna get you off the hook....
So i agree with the statement that everyone else is saying...
PICK YOUR BATTLES, BUT DONT BITCH WHEN THE BATTLE BACKFIRES ON YOU

I see your point, but i would say that if its in your right, orthe cop is infringing on your unnessecarily or excessivly, i think the wrong think to do is just kiss *** up to authority. I think people would be better off in general if we stopped the mentality or trying to brush everything aside in our lives leaving the problems to others, in this case, cops abusing power. Yes the cop should let him know if hes really bothering people, but it seems like this particular cop is going out of his way to use his position to bear down on others.

Remember one other thing too. Wrong is wrong and right is right and it does NOT depend on what your age is..
