I've only talked back to 2 cops in my life for pulling me over for bull***** tickets after they where being complete a$$holes. But I've gotten tickets for loud exhuast and no front plate more times then I can count and I just think those are such B.S. tickets but I show them respect and go to court about it. I've never seen the absolute purpose in a front plate, and I love how millions of harelys run around on straight pipes but I get a ticket with cats and mufflers on my truck.

I've only had two speeding tickets my entire life (one 79 in a 70, and one 39 in a 25) so I'm not a very big law breaker. I've never been to jail or even felt the cold steel of handcuffs on my wrist outside of the bedroom. . I appreciate the law and the purpose they serve but giving them total power is somthing I will never allow.
Nobody said you are a little punk and nobody said anything about giving cops total power. This thread has obviously set off your defense mechanism and you're taking it way to seriously. It takes a bigger man to concede the small things in life and to choose the proper time to fight the battle. The situation that started this thread wasn't one of those times.

to everyone who insists that we must not question authority:

I am glad our founding fathers didn't share your view, or we would still be England's bi*ches.

After 2400+ views and 100+ posts on this subject and you still missed the whole point. It's just a hunch, but I bet ole GW and TJ would have turned their fog lights off without a question. They wouldn't have wanted to screw up the plans for the Boston Tea Party

Yes, that was original point. But after 2400+ views and 100+ posts, it seemed to get down to the root issue. And that is whether those in a civilized culture should question authority (the cops). And if you are willing to stand up for what you believe in, the answer is yes. If you would rather take the easy way out, just bend over. I am not condoning this guys behavior, I know when it best suits me to cooperate w/ the cops. That was not a battle I would have chosen, but who am I to tell this guy how to live. Let boys be boys, who knows, he might change the way cops interact with us peasants

How did this thread get so out of hand ? "Boston tea party?"
"Question athority?"
The simple fact is you are a Geek for driving with your fog/driving lights on when you don't need them.

Your a youngster, wise up. If the cops in your town are jerks.... why on earth drive with your fogs on ? All that does is draw MORE attention to an already noticeable truck.

Here in Oregon there is some funky coplicated law concerning fog/driving lights. I drive tractor/trailer combo and the company I work for posted it on the bullitin board once.

If your ever caught in fog so thick that all you can see is the white line (fog line) on the side of the road, you will understand what EXACTLY those lights are for.

I am a Geek>??? Thank you I really needed a laugh tonight! I drive with my fog lights on because they help me see better. See how easy it is to say something without resorting to name calling. Thanks again though, -Mat-

Sorry about the name calling. Honest.

But if those lights really make you see better, maybe your regular driving lights are out of adjustment ?

Or maybe you have "night driving blindness?'' Honest, it's a real condition. It is much more common in younger people. I am not making this up. There are special lenses you eye doctor can prescribe. If I am not mistaken it is a condition that most people eventually outgrow as they get older. Hopefully there will come a day in the near future that you will be able to drive at night without special lenses or extra lighting.

Seriously, if you have a problem driving at night, .. see your eye doctor

It is not that I can't see at night, I just can see better with the other lights. They light up the side of the road a lot better. I certainly wouldn't wanna be that guy that hits the dumb pedestrian walking down the road at night with no reflecive wear. Or hit a deer. That would ruin my night fast. I don't think there is anything wrong with my vision but I like to see it all. -Mat-

How much for your truck? If it has dealer plates it is either for sale or being repaired.

After reading this, I am disappointed that my tax dollars are being used to stop fog light violators.

As a taxpayer, I demand that anyone under 25 caught driving a Lightning be dragged from the vehicle and beaten with nightsticks until I feel better.

Mat,
I live say within 65 miles of you. I'm in NY State. As you in Ct. we have zillions of deer running all over the place at night. I travel the Taconic State Parkway each evening on the way to work and YES, I worry about hitting a deer. I have even gone as far as installing Sylvania Silverstar High Performance Halogen capsules in my headlights & fog lamps. I also did the "Fog light modification." Fog lights can now go on with headlights (high or low) or parking lights. When I travel in the RURAL areas I drive with brightlights on AND the fogs and YUP the road lights up and I hopefully can spot the deer, occasional pedestrian running, etc.. YES, having the brightness of the fogs and brights is a big plus.... BUT, but if a cop were to stop me about the fogs I would yes sir him, turn them out and give him no attitude. Yes, I would go on using the fogs but not right then. Again, as we all have mentioned here it is not whether or not to use the fogs but rather how you deal with an authority figure / an officer of the law when you are stopped for whatever reason.. Hey, Mat ... consider the fog light mod..... very easy to do.... Hey Mat, consider changing the way you deal with police officers. By the way, have you ever consider just going up and talking to that officer sometime when you see him around town. Maybe reaffirming to him some of the positive stuff you have said here and letting him know that you are not a problem teenager and really are trying to abide by the laws, etc.. Might just be worth the effort on your part. NO, I am not saying brown nose him but rather just let him know what Mat is about. Sometimes personalizing things can go a long way.

What ever you do DO NOT give him a donut with laxative in it or you will be forever on his sh*t list (pun intended).

On a serious note that is a real good idea. Just trying to get to know him could go a long ways…
