The average stock zo6 no matter the year does not even run low 12's stock, around here they run 12.70's in the 405 hp versions on great hooking tracks.

They are bad cars...but lets not get carried away with the #'s please.

fellas. the zo6's are not hp machines stock. hang out at some vet forums look at all the mods those guys buy and only net 360-370 to the wheels with 380 torque. true they are light, but hell. with the right mods you should be able to take a zo6. my day will come where i will find out hopefully

Don't feel bad. Coming home from my grandparents house today, just after I met up with MISTERgadget, I gunned it next to a z06 from like a 40mph roll. I swear, the guy was either boosting or spraying! That thing took off like NOTHING ive ever seen. It was SICK!

I rode in one, and they are pretty dag on fast. (from pass. seat though). This was the guy's first "stick" car so his shifting isn't too good yet.

Lets get real guys, most Z06 buyers are just buying it because of what it is. If you know how to drive the car you will get smoked!!! You put me in a Z06 and I will roast a bunch of L's. I had vettes before, I drove (2) Z06's, the lightning will take it off the line, but that's it. Mid track he the vette is going to be charging hard. If the vette has drag radials, forget it you are done!!! Next thing you know you're going to say a L is going to take on a Viper. Remember, it's 4,700 pounds so big deal it makes more power. I love my L but I'm a realist.

Facts: 2002 Z06 (315 Drag radials, X pipe, Haltech air filter/intake)

1.760 60ft
11.612 @ 120.54 (This equal getting your a$$ handed)

You put the bottle on this car you are in the 10's PERIOD!!!!

Now I know I'm going to get flamed on this, but that's my opinion and my post!!!

Agreed -

But you have to remember what do little boy's and girl's like to do with their spare time - yup - 'day dream' seems these dudes are day dreaming and floating around in 'JDM fairy land' - pretending and dreaming they are beating ZO6's at the track and on the street... what there really doing is racing their diecast models...

Like little boy's do occasionally they get confused (vivid imaginations) - racing their little red diecast L's against diecast Vette's on the livingroom floor on Saturday morning with a hangover while there wife watches and wonders how she married such a juvenile in the first place is not really beating a ZO6 boy's it's just a dream - a dream - a dream - WAKE UP ... hahahahahahahaha ...

Did the Easter bunny come this morning ...?

day dreaming ? a stock zo6 puts 405 to the crank. sure on the top end it will take us. that 405 to the crank translates into about 350 - 360 to the wheels. Wheres the torque? I drove a zo6. very impressive car. it would be a good race. I for one are going to go o6 hunting. Screw dreams; going to turn it into reality.

i guess you guys are the type to tremble if a zo6 revs at you at a light. "Ooo the barbie machine is going to eat me!"

If i get beat. then i will eat my words and post about how much of a dumarse i am. ofcourse i'm going to pick a stock one. heh

Nate,

I'm just pointing out the facts, so get your honor all upset. The Z06 puts out torque at a higher RPM than an L. So if you run up against one from a roll at 20-30 or so you're going to get eatin alive. I've had fast cars and have driven fast cars. Just because you have an L with a pulley and some basic mods, your stil pushing 4700 pounds., I plan on getting my L into the 11's with no Juice put my MPH is only going to be 112 or so. At the track I will have a great ET, but I won't take on a slightly modded Z06 if I'm runnning street tires.

By the way, becareful of some of the older muscle cars, just because they posted that a 1970 Hemi Cuda did a 13.5 @ 105 doesn't mean your L or anybodys L has a chance. That 13.5 car ran on F70 Polyglass tires and it was tuned down from the factory. It will click off 11's just with exhaust, slicks and a carb rejetting.

I just wish I bought my buddys car when I graduated college. 1979 Z-28, Detuned NASCAR motor with 12:1, Doug Nash/Richmond 5 speed, 12 bolt rear with 3:73. It was dynoed at 685 HP and would rev to 8,300 RPM. What a great street car. We destroyed everything on the road.

Yeah, the GM guys dont know that they can mod cars.Mods were invented by Lightning parts vendors. As long as we can bolt 10,000 in mods on these Ford pickups and make up for that 2 sec. headstart on those roadracers at the dragstrip, those Vette guys will never know what hit them.

Chevy has been R&D racing the Corvette for 50 years. The factory version of a Vette is only a platform for the owner to build on.A guy here in Daytona drives a 650 hp Lingenfelter that weighs half of what we do.Im sure hes wishing a Lightning would try him so he can post it on the Vette board and his buddies can all laugh and do the kill chant too.Im sure theyre really having trouble with a factory pick up running a pulley and chip.If you think all Vettes are stock C5s with some preppy IT guy that cant drive a shifter, youre in for serious embarrassment.

No way ...

Hey - come on man you can do anything you want in your own little dream world -

Hitch your dreams to a cart full of phoney baloney, overpriced, do nothing, junk, aftermarket parts and you can beat 'Big Daddy Don Garlit's'

Only problem is when they wake up their pockets will be empty they'll have a $60,000.00 'Sanford and Son pick-up truck' they can't sell for $25,000.00 and the ZO6 will still hand them their asses ...

MAN! You guys are taking this too hard. I own a fast modded Vette : 413 rwhp/390 rwtq, with gears and drag radials, and it will roast my L, but it cost $48K to buy and $7k to mod to get there. I paid $29K for the L and mods less than $1k. The L can and does show tailgate to stock C5's, and even to a Viper once. Enjoy just how fast the truck is, just know there is ALLWAYS someone faster out there. A stoplight confrontation is NOT the war in Iraq. If you lose you don't die. It's not a biggie.

Hello
I just bounced over here from Z06Vette.com. Someone posted a link to this thread

I own a 2003 Z06 and have a good friend that has a 2002 Lightning. Both are beasts.

You know what...We are all lucky to be able to afford such nice vehicles so that we can maintain this type of rivalry.

Let the games continue.........
