So when will the Works be ready for production?

I figure once Sal gets one, and beats the crap out of it, I will be ready.

Not Too Nasty

Thanks for the answers, and bitter feuding was kept to a minimum. Sounds like, for me, the KB will do fine, since I am not looking for 10's and the last ounce of power. Service and product quality is an issue to me, so I will discuss all that with JL.
Thanks for your input Sal, appreciated it. I need all the lead time I can get in order to have my truck ready for summer (takes forever to truck stuff up here), hence I need to go with a product already out there and proven to work (i have no doubts that the whipple will be a great product).

Mark

Question Which Blower

Geeeeez, after reading all this pros and cons stuff, I still can't decide which is the better blower. I've already got a built short block, so I'm safe as far as that goes. I think I'm just gonna do what Vinnie and the Captain said, wait a year and let things sort themselves out. Hey Vinnie, I think we'll both be running high 11's and seeing tail lights but that's OK, John H.

Think about us poor bastards in the 12's

Sal,

It did break into the 15's and it weighs 5000lb, runs on 87 octane and is a totally different animal than a Lightning, so comparisons are useless. My point was that you inferred that that KB wasnt good enough for production vehicles and I just wanted to show you that indeed it was.

Not doubting the Works cabability at all, just wanted to clear up some of your incorrect info.

And yes, the Durango SP360 was and still is butt ugly LOL

ahhh, i miss these threads lol

you all know, with the right setup you can put a 300 hp car into the low 11's or 10's

there is more than power to look at when comparing time slips,

i.e. MPH

the mph in the e.t. will show the power something is making

the only true test would be as Sal said, do a track day with the same truck and swap blowers out,

i may suggest doc do an article such as this

On a purely ideological basis I would tend to disagree. If the
above were true, we would all drive Volkswagens and our
wives would all be 10's ... Sometimes there IS a difference
that is quantifieable, and I think customer support or lack of
it, is one of the prime considerations.

It's nice to see us all be able to discuss things and not get
all bent outta shape.... I think we're doing pretty good this
year.

Here's to fun times at the track !!!

SAL: When have you or anyone else tested the 140 against the *NEW* KB that we are talking about here? I would agree a rear entry would be more effecient than the *OLD* styly KB but this *NEW* KB is a complete different unit than the Older version.I remember you and others were promoting the *Original* works blower as being the *Best* blower 1 could buy, till i started running the *OLD* KB version and putting down some serious #'s with it..Now your promoting this whipple as the *Best* unit to go with.Without even having a *NEW* KB Unit to compare it to! Like i said to everyone Its your Truck you purchase whatever 1 you feel more comfortable with.We will soon find out once these units get into the Lightning owners hands! If there is 1 thing ive learned thru the years its this, 1 of the Things that is most important is the Ability to install and remove such items with ease.and still have the freedom to remove sparkplugs ect.. Just like it was meant to be, And have Complete confidence in its Performance! Which this *NEW* KB will over shadow The 140 for sure....Thats my opinion and we'll just have to wait and see........JL

Yea, but try putting that 300hp motor in a 4500lb truck and run 11's or 10's. NOT!

Yup, waiting a year seems better. We will have a much more accurate pro/con list for each, plus some of the initial gremlins worked out.

Ok John, you're entitled to your opinion just like everyone else. Now give us all the technical info that backs up everything you just said. I gave in depth details as to why I feel the Whipple is better than the Autorotor. Let's hear your side as to why the Autorotor is better than the Whipple. Not just statements like "ETs talk, dynos walk", or some pictures of timeslips. I want to see real data why you say the KB will "overshadow the 140". That's a pretty big statement considering the KB is a less efficient blower (admitted by Jim Bell himself), unless this *NEW* blower you are talking about is a 3rd version coming out that nobody knows about.

I still don't understand why the KB supporters feel it's ok to shoot their mouths off as to why the KB is so great, but the Works supports don't seem to be allowed to do the same. This thread shouldn't be a 4th grade rock throwing contest as to who has bigger rocks. Put forth your real technical info and let the people make their own choice.

Here's a solution. JL, send us a "NEW" KB blower and we will do a direct swap test on our Mustang dyne. The vehicle will be the same, the mods will be the same, we will make sure EVERYTHING is the same, except the blowers. You can even BE THERE if you'd like.

After testing the two blowers on the dyne, we'll take the same truck to the track and do the same test.

A true, real to life test. All info to be posted on this board upon completion and signed by both of us.

What do you think?
