Ebay Projectors

Are all of the projector headlights on eBay pretty much junk? There are lots of people that say most of them are. I just want to upgrade from what I have on the truck. Google search shows a lot of different ones at different price ranges that look exactly alike. Some of the HID projectors on eBay seem awfully inexpensive to be good quality. Examples like IPCW and Spyder are popular it seems. Which brands are descent quality without being too expensive? I don't want to get new headlights that aren't as bright as what I already have. Any help on which way to go without breaking the bank will be appreciated.

Everyone here will tell you to screw that and spend the $300 on just retrofit projector parts.....BUT with eBay projectors its a hit or miss deal. Ive seen some real terrible quality and then I've seen some okay quality that liveable and all projectors look almost the same ( made in china ). I wouldnt take the risk on spending the money like that, either keep your oem housings or really go out and spend on a retro

The only half way decent head light that has a projector for your year truck would be the depo brand with the high beam projector. The low beam is about equal to stock but the high beams are great. The low beam uses the stock 9007 in a reflector and high beam uses both a 9005 in a projector and the high beams of the 9007 in the reflector. I have the depo projectors and I like them.

Most of the projector headlights on eBay are made from china and are not really designed out well. They use H1 and H3 bulbs which are not meant as primary sources of illumination, they were designed for fog/aux lamps. Not to mention their projectors have plastic lenses and are diffused. If you are going to spend money and want light output, go straight for the retrofit route.

So what is a retro? Can I buy them complete or is it parts that have to be built? I am not a mechanic.

Where did you get them from? How would I know which ones are the good headlights?

If you look in my gallery i added a pic yesterday in there for ya. They are the black head lights. I got them from Ebay for 130. It came with all the wiring and relays. I believe these are the best your gunna get without spending 400 on a good retrofit project from TRS. Do some searching under this forum for the depo with projectors and you'll find good info on them..
