HID install W/ no switch

I have the round fogs now but I don't have the factory harness or fog light factory switch. Can I wire the HID's to the running light switch (first turn of the ****) so they come on and I don't necessarily need the heads on?

This is a little confusing. You added a bumper with fogs, but you're truck didn't come with them, right?

If so, then yes, you can wire your ballasts to your running lights. Just splice the red (+) wire to the (+) wire on the running light.

Whose kit are you using?

Yea that's exactly the case. I didn't think it would be that simple. What about power consumption. Will it affect the running lights. I have DDM tuning 55w 5k in the heads so I was probably gonna get a matching set for the fogs.

Instead of running a wire to a switch, splice into the fog lamp wire on your OEM headlight swtich

Raptor by consumption I mean we add so much stuff lighting wise I'm not sure what the load limit is on the running light line. Thinking as far as to much load on it that it would blow a fuse. Also thanks for the diagram that's a good idea.

Give me distance and what kind of kit you want and I can tell you what gauge and fuse will be safe

A 35w hid kit takes less power than the factory fogs anyway, right? And the ballasts just need a signal wire to tell them to turn on

By a slight margin, yes. 9140s draw 40W so you're talking four-tenths of an amp difference. The variable is the distance of the wire. The longer the distance (and more resistance), the thicker the wire.

I just ordered the 35w 5000k from DDM tuning. As far as distance I will be running a either a toggle from the dash or doing what you said Raptor and splicing into the headlight switch.

Ok so I have the kit. I am going to use a 15 amp fuse if that sounds righ to y'all. I'm going to wire it up to a toggle on the dash. So I'll be using about 8 ft wire roughly. So not sure what gauge. Also what is the best way of utilizing these ends. Not sure what I can attach to them other than cutting them off and splicing into my wire. Thanks

8ft @ 15A need a minimum of 18AWG wiring (from what I see that's 16). Using a 15A fuse is too high, a 10A would be better since at most you'll be using is ~6A.

Those prongs (top ground, bottom positive) are to a 9006-plug. You can clip them into a proper plug such as below and then use a male 9006 plug from the fog lamp.

Or you can just stick those two prongs into the male fog lamp plug (less professional-looking).

Is that really a D2S/D2R config? I notice you say DDM so knowing them they put that on there to be able to sell them.
