Replaced FRONT, now REAR giving trouble- what??

This forum RULES! i was in Louisville, Kentucky this past weekend, emergency visit to a family member who had a stroke, and was NOT planning on fixing anything car related. Well, myself and a cousin fixed this in my cousin's driveway in about 6 hours. Ford dealers there were NOT helpful in finding the O rings, Autozone had the special tool for $20 deposit (returned upon return of the tool) and ended up finding a helpful manager at Pep Boys there that found some teflon O rings and rubber O rings fixed it right up!

NOW, i have an issue with the rear heat on my 99 EXPEDITION not blowing HOT. It was working prior to the front replacement, i'm sure of it. When i move the temp control on the headliner (either the front seat one, or the passenger compartment one) all the way to COLD, it blows VERY cold. However, when i move it to warm, it blows warm only for a moment and then fades to colder, THO NOT AT COLD AS WHEN IT'S ON COLD, FYI.

I felt both the hoses going into the rear heater core, and they were hot. so...?

Is the job on the 02 F-150 5.4 comprable to replacing the heater core on a 97 expedition 4x4 5.4? As far as placement and location of screws, nuts, bolts, and electrical connections (air bags)? I am aware some things are in possible different locations but it appears that these 2 vehicles are just about the same since 97-02 f-150s expeditions and navigators are the same for the most part. I have looked at your photos and instructions on this job and just need to know if it is similar. Thank you

Heater Core instructions?

This is my first time on here. Can Alan or someone that has them please send me the instruction too. My wife is yelling at me about her heater. I believe I have determined that it is the heater core and don't have the money to pay someone to do it. THANK YOU!!!

Heater Core Replaced

Using your instructions, I replaced the heater core and blend door on my 97 F-150. Sure made the job a lot easier than without any guide. Only had one connector left over to left of steering column. Has one green/blk stripe wire and one red wire in square grey connector. Couldn't figure where it goes. May have to pull steering column back down since turn signals don't work. Any ideas?

Thanks again, for the instructiions.

Keith

I'm having this same issue.
Rear heater worked fine before I took it in to have the Ford dealer fix front heat problem. Now no hot air from rear heater vents.
Anyone seen this and have a solution? Dealer wants $400+ to replace plugged rear heater radiator. Dealer says not necessary to pull dash to replace rear radiator -- is it fairly easy to do myself?
Is there any way to flush the plugged rear heater radiator?

Thanks for any suggestions / thoughts.

Hi Alan, from the length of this thread, I see this is a common problem. I tried downloading the instructions from the url you supplied but there was a conflict with the graphics conversion filter. Would you please email those instructions to me also. Thank you so much parten37@yahoo.com

Hi, new to the site and of course, same problem here with the heater core. I've tried the link but is not longer available. Could I get a copy of the instructions? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone who has done this help me out? I have a vacuum hose coming from the engine bay, through the firewall right behind the steering column that connects to the a/c stuff under the dash that has come off. I have lost the ability to control everything except for on and off. I know it goes to the a/c because the system has defaulted to defrost, indicating a vacuum failure.

Does anyone know where this thing goes?? I've looked everywhere I could without taking the dash off and can't find anything.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

A new member here with a 1998 F150 that has the infamous broken blend door. I had the problem with the blender door being broken. I replaced the door and then i took the motor and opened it up because when you turn between hot/cold the motor would not turn. So i took it out and opened it like you and directly hooked it up to a 12v battery and voila it works. So im stuck. My motor isnt broken and opened up the **** and their isnt anything to fix inthere either. So why isnt the motor turning on? Oh i also checked all the fuses and didnt find a single burnt one. any advice?
