Those with in dash screens and stock sub

I have a 2004 Lariat with the stock sub and im wanting to get a double din in dash moniter. Is there some sort of special harness needed to run your stock sub? I know in my 05 mustang when I went aftermarket I lost my factory door subs....

The ford Audiophile harness. This would also work in your mustang. Metra 70-5521

'05 Lariat Audiophile

I put in a Clarion Max675VDII with a the audiophile wiring harness. After the install the factory sub was popping whenever I turned on the deck. I went to the local car audio shop. They told me I had to wire resistors in with the remote turn on wire because the factory amp uses a 6V turn on not 12V. I did and it solved the problem.

It was just two resistors that I had to solder in that cost me like $2 and 5 minutes of time so yes. It's not a great sub by any stretch of the imagination, but it was worth it.

yeh... like everyone says.. make sure you get the right wiring kit... crutchfield has it... but also... do a search on here... if i'm not mistaken you have to install a relay into the line somewhere to prevent a "pop" sound when the stock amplifier kicks on.

I don't know if a relay would work or not. Mach 1 (local kicker dealer) told me to cut the remote turn on wire from the deck, solder in a 500 ohmn resister, AFTER this resistor (toward amplifier side), solder in another 500 ohmn resistor to ground to blead off 6V. I'm looking for a program to make a quick wiring diagrahm so it's easier to under stand.

I always use a 1K ohm but it doesnt matter. As long as they are the same. Relay would work but again the same process is necessary. So a waste of time...

The other day I made a "harness" for the sub, all I did was get some splitters (2 males to 1 female or just a simple single rca if u got the mono plug on ure HU), plug the male(s) to the HU, cut off the female end then grab the exposed wires to tap into the sub wires + & -, then send ure remote turn on to the amp turn on w/ure resistors and ure good

here's the only diagram I could find a lil blurry
