2006 Supercrew broken into, need help/advice.

Hey guys I haven't posted in a while but now I'm in need of some info on how my truck got broken into. I'm not a systems expert but I know a little, I'm completely stumped on how they got in. I'm comfused, they got in took the aftermarket head unit and did it with a precision of a pro. I guess I'm lucky they didn't break anything or smash the window but how in the hell did they get in? No "jimmy" marks on any of the rubber, no prying of the back window, and not broken glass. So my naive question is "is there some type of remote scam going around?" I'm also confused about the whole blinking light when the truck is locked, is it just for show? Any info would be great, thanks.
UPDATE:I know how they got in now, they busted the lock somehow. No visual evidence but the key won't work.

If I had to get broken into then I guess I was lucky enough to have no damage and they only got a head unit that I only paid $150 for at Crutchfield but man I'm pissed. I am going to get an alarm installed this wekend and a new HU.

Any suggestions on alarms?

I'm sorry to hear that you got broke into! I know how you must feel. It happened to me once, but luckily not with this truck. Anyway, I've looked into a lot of systems and this is what I am going to get. It's one of the best if not the best out there!

Not to mention the fact that KCAutosound can prewire it for your truck to make the install that much easier

Definitly get a 2-way lcd alarm. That was the second thing I put in my truck.

How difficult are they to install? Is it a DIY type project, or let a sound shop or someone do it for you? I'm considering this if I could do it myself.

This one I think is a "Get a good shop to do it" type of system. At least that's what I was told by a good friend of mine that has done custom stereo and alarm installs for a very long time.

Put it this way? I wouldn't rely on that little light for anything. I'd invest into a good alarm system for your truck.

Bite,
A co-worker had his truck broken into in a similar way. He says that the "low lifes" sprayed something into his lock and got in very easy.
Ford locks are very easy to pry open.
We both have Auto Page alarm systems that page you if your alarm is activated. He feels that the alarm did its job since they didn't take much before he got there even things that were just laying on the seat.
I like the feel that I'll get alerted and a chance to do something as oposed to the unexpected shock when I get to the truck.

Trust me on this. LET A CERTIFIED INSTALLER DO THIS!!! Do not do this on your own unless you have an extensive knowledge on your vehicles electronics, you are GOOD with a soldering gun, and really know how to work a meter. It is very easy to fry a ECM/BCM/Alarm Brain without the full knowledge of door locks, doorpins, tach wires, positive/negative triggers, relays, etc...

I got certified for a reason.

The light is a status indicator. Dependant on the amount of blinks w/in a certain period of time can tell you a lot about whats been or going on with your truck. Plus its also a theft deterrent.
