"Now some members have posted that they had to remove the bottom portion of the bracket as well. If I remember correctly it seemed owners of 01 and previous years mentioned this."

Working on a double din install in a 97 F150. In reference to cutting or trimming the bottom portion of the bracket. Was this to ensure that the dash trim wouldn't cover a portion of he HU screen? It seems if I just cut or trim the top that this will be a problem.

Quick question... I've tried doing this in my 01. I couldn't get it to play videos however, like it wasnt wired right. Any guidance?

If we are to consider that the HU is in working order, then most likely wiring issue. The HU needs to know the vehicle is in park and/or parking brake engaged before video will play for safety/legal reasons. There are various methods to bypass this check, just depends on the particular HU you have. On the Avic I installed in the OP I believe I grounded out the parking brake "check" wire from the HU. Others I have installed since I've used a relay and grounding wouldn't work.

I had a kenwood ddx 470 installed in my 01. Minimal trimming was required. It took them 20 mins to install it.

That looks great. I'm thinking about getting the DDX 790 at some point.

Exclamation Please help!

Great thread thank you so much! I just installed my pioneer AVH-X5600BHS and the only issue I have is that my deck can't find any radiostations, which makes sense since It's not connected to the antenna... how do I get the deck to find radiostations? Do I have to purchase certain adapter for the factory antenna harness? Thank you in advance...

And one more quesiton, in that scosche kit FD1330B there is a plastic piece across the bezel, which doesnt makes sense since its dividing it in half for a single din... is that piece removable?

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I am putting in a kenwood double din that has a drop down face, meaning you load the CD behind the screen, and I mine is hitting the top of the ford bezel. Does anyone have experience with how much you have to trim off of the bezel or if there is another way to get it to fit without it stopping the face from opening? It all fits in without any cutting to the trim bezel, but the face doesn't open.

Thanks!

John

Space it out from the dash a little more, so the face isn't flush with the dash. The mounting kit I got for my Pioneer allows for depth adjustment and still uses the Ford clips on the sides. But mine front loads through the face (no flip down or removing).

I know I'm awakening a dead horse

But I've got an 04 f150 heritage

Looking to install a pioneer AVH1400dvd

It doesn't have a sleeve but wondering if I absolutely need a install kit around the bezel

Thanks folks

Assuming the 1400 has the same dimensions as the AVH-4100NEX, you will need something to fill gaps at the sides. Due to the motorized face on mine, and the vertical position in which it ended up resting, even the thin top piece of a trim ring/bezel interfered. I ended up using no mounting kit at all, and heavy 1/2" black weatherstrip to fill the gaps at the sides.
