Huh? You don't use the second connector. The radio should light itself. You also loose speed/volume control.

Are you saying your dash doesn't light up anymore? You must have blown or removed a fuse.

Yea, the dash lights are in the original 16 pin harness. Its a dimmer not an illumination. Dimmer is variable voltage between 0-12v, Illum is 0 OR 12v. The radio needs a illum wire, that can be found at the light switch.

Radio Bezel - where can i find it?

Maybe 2-3mm, and not noticable from the drivers seat. I have to point it out to most people. I cant see any way of eliminating it, perhaps with a custom cut bezel. But I'm REALLY being picky here. I think the tolerances are better than some OEM units I've seen.

And that's all folks! The entire process took two evenings after work, maybe 4hrs max. I couldn't be happier and I am very glad I did it, especially considering the money I saved and the extra attention to detail.

Post up any questions!

Radio Bezel - know where can i find this bezel?

I'm still running the AVIC D3 in this thread. Unit has been a rock in terms of reliability, but it is starting to show its age. I haven't kept up with current audio tech as thoroughly as I used to, but I still flip through the Crutchfield catalogs that come in the mail. Seems to me the Pioneer line still offers the best user interface with the most modern look, along with plenty of features for the $$. I plan on replacing this unit sometime when I get some time, and I will be looking at the Pioneer units first.

I most likely will not be looking for a GPS capable unit next time as my phone has the extremely good Google Navigation, which should help keep the costs down and further justify the swap.

Glad to see this old thread I started is still offering some use for members!! Thanks for all the compliments!!

the Scoshe FD1330B you provided refers to the radio mount kit - not the turtlewood bezel - I'm looking for the turtlewood radio Bezel. can you tell me where you found this elusive item?

I have been reading over this thread because I have wanted to do this in my navigator for a while. Finally got a good deck (kenwood dnx9960) and I measured everything out. I think I want to route my wires behind the hu before I do the full install. I might need a few hours. Great write up tho.

I installed the Clarion Max675VD back in 07. The touchscreen died in October, so I'm now removing the 675 and installing a Clarion 702. I'm glad I saved this thread back then.

Turtlewood radio bezel from pictures

Still looking for that Turtlewood radio Bezel. The Scosche part number provided was for an install kit - not the Radio Bezel. Anyone know where to find this beauty?
