Question Harley Davidson F150 Owners......

Hey guys, if you don't mind please read this and see if the information I got from calling FORD today is correct.

Ok, so I took Db682 suggestion and went to www.fordvehicles.com to go to My Ford, where I was already registered, while attempting to sign in, I found out that my account doesn't excist anymore, so I tried registering again, and the system failed of course so I was asked to call the My Ford Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-693-6738.

I gladly did so and registered my Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor again via the phone and was asked to log into the system from home after a half an hour so that they process it in their headquarters...

Before thanking the person and saying good bye I asked her if she could tell me the Production # for my friend's Harley Davidson F150... (HEMI) and she said absolutely... I gave her the VIN # and away she went... about five minutes later she comes back and tells me that the build # on this particular model is the 12 to 16 digits on the VIN #... (ONLY for this model) I looked at it and without realy realizing it I asked her is she was SURE? I told her I was under the impression that the total # build for that year was 7500 and Hemi's VIN had a 9 as a first digit... She assured me she was correct... but I asked her nonetheless what the build Date was on that truck and again asked her how many total Harley Davidson F150's were made in 2000....

She put me on hold for another five minutes and when she came back she appologized repeatedly that the system has Crashed and she has lost all the data and was unable to help me at the moment... but reasured me that after she takes my name and phone # down with the VIN# from Hemi's truck, she'd call me on Monday with all the correct information!

phew, after you guys are done reading with all that I hope you answer the question I intended to ask in this post, which is:

2000 Harley Davidson F150 owners that already know their production #, when you look at your VIN# do the digits match???

I'm very curious because it would be a lot more convenient for everyone to find out their # instead of calling Ford and sitting on the phone for half an hour... and not necessarily getting the answer, LOL...

Ok, please post your responses here! And Hemi, I almost got your Build # bro, its just a matter of time, heheh!

Jerzey, sorry dude but she doesn't know what she's talkin about, or ALL the 00 HD's plaques are wrong. Every one that i know that has any year HD, their vin number doesn't match up with their build plaque. My vin number ends in 89886, and mine was one of the early EARLY hd's made. They started building the 00's on april 30th i believe and I know mine was made on may 18th. Don't think that they made almost 9K HD's that quick, especially since mine was one of the first HD's in jersey. Also, i've heard different numbers of the amount of HD's made for 00 (anywhere from 7 to 7500) but i know mine's not number 89886. Believe me, we would have caught on a long time ago if the vin and build number matched up. The numbers on the vin account for ALL the vehicles that rolled off the assembly plant, not just the HD's so thats why they don't match up. Good luck though finding out the truth.

Dean don't get too excited just yet... Monday is a few days away and I could hardly wait for the call because as you can see so far I haven't found anything even after a good half an hour on the phone! heh

Josh you're absolutely right, I just wanted someone to confirm my speculation that the lady was full of it. I mean I pretty much told her that when I asked, are you sure? LOL

I really wonder now if she'll call back and tell me the real deal, or stick to the same story... I'd think since I asked her for the Build Date and the Total Harley Davidson F150's made she might stumble upon the correct Production #... I'm keeping my fingers crossed... heh

we'll see.

PS. by the way, your VIN # definitely shows the correct sequence made for the whole F150 production line, however it does not distinguish between models or anything else, so I mean when it comes to the TOTAL F150's build your trucks fall into those figures, but that doesn't do US any good, does it? LOL

HArley VIN

My Harley shows a build #10100 The last 5 digits of the VIN. However my truck was the 6751 Harley in the production sequence. Problem with vin # is it represents the actual roll off the line on that production run,September 21, 2000. The original paper work definately caused me to re think the vin thing.

HEMIUK, i just saw your other post, the B wouldn't stand for the build number cuz mine doesn't even have B in it. LoL. From what i understand here's what the number/letters stand for

1st digit - Nation of origin (2 on 00's for canada)
2nd " - Make (F for ford)
3rd " - Vehicle type (T for truck)
4th " - GVWR & Brake type (some letter)
5 - 7 " - Model code (series) (some letter)
8th " - Engine (some letter)
9th " - Check digit (another number)
10th " - Model year (alpha, not number) (Y for 00)
11th " - Assembly plant (C for canada)
12-17 " - Prod sequence number (letter than 5 numbers)

Just a note, the letters and numbers in () are just what they are on my truck, they may be a little different on yours, but this is the jist of it.

As for that girl, just was just probably feeding you a line to keep you happy. Se probably doensn't know that they didnt' make all the HD's in one continuous run and other vehicles came off the assembly line inbetween, hence the last numbers in teh vin and build plaque numbers being different.

OKIE HARLEY, got a gallery???

Good luck with the investigation

HEMIUK: hows this for crazy... a friend of mine went & test drove a harley truck, but didnt buy it... he must have filled out some paperwork or something, because a month or so later, he gets the keychain/plaque in the mail.. and he didn't even buy the truck! LOL

i see him around every now and then... next time i see him out, i'll see if he wants to give up the plaque/keychain/case to someone that has been left out.

Oh, my bad, i just assumed it was a 02. I guess i read your post too fast. Damn, i really wanted that knife. LoL. (could you guys that are on ebay alot keep an eye out for the HD knife for me) any way to answer you question clonetek, the 00's got a leather gift box with a certificate, keychain, oval embelm with owners info on it and build number/ date/ vin/ etc. (and it was an actual emblem-sticky on back) The 01's got the same stuff, except for their owner's plaque was rectangle shaped and engraved and wasn't an emblem (has felt on back like a paperweight). THe 02's get the box, plaque like 01's got except only has owners name and vin number i think (cuz other info is on emblem in console) and a knife instead of the keychain.

anyway, I'll buy the keychain if he's willing to part with it. Mine came damaged , the plating was chipped on a few parts of it, and the black in the keychain itself was coming off in places. I would really like to purchase this one if he will sell it. Again, please don't make it too crazy of a price if he will sell, but I WANT IT. LoL Thanks a lot.

BTW, i thought i remember you posting your AOL screen name for IM, we've been posting back and forth so much lately, probalby be easier to chat some of this little stuff over there. Mine is Harley0356 for anybody that has AOL Instant messenger and wants to chat sometime.

HEMIUK, i guess we'll have to bid on it. LoL. I still say that you should get your stuff, it just might take a while. One canadian owner of a 00 HD didn't get a plaque, and he b!tched enough so since ford didn't have any 00 plaques left, they sent him a plaque design from the 01's model owners got, but with info for his 00. Truly a one of a kind deal there. So there is hope, just gotta work hard to find it. Good luck though.

Thanks HEMIUK, If you couldn't already tell I spend most of my time that i have time to get on the net researching these trucks. LoL, the rest of the time ordering car brochures. They are free so why not. I started collecting them in 01, and i have about a stack 10 feet high if you stacked them all up. My mail lady hates me. LoL.
Anyway, as for the 00 HD, the ONLY things that came with it were:
the tonneau
the jacket cuz tonneau wasn't ready (you can buy it on www.fordcollection.com for 100 bucks though)
Keychain
leather box that keychain and emblem came in
owners emblem
certificate of authenticity
I don't think i'm forgeting anything, but if i am, i'm sure someone will add it in or i will remember sometime tonight or tomorrow. As for the leather bound owners handbook, i never heard of any, your probably thinking of the leather gift box that the emblem and keychain came in and had the HD emblem imprinted on the top.

Well good luck hunting down your stuff
