Had just turned into a side turning in the city so was not underload or gunning it when there was a bad vibration and then a loud knock followed by a large oilsmoke cloud behind me. The engine died and I coasted to the kerb.........there she lay until a recovery truck collected her.

Got to wait until 2nd Jan now as everywhere is shut for the holidays...Gutted...

So....so far not impressed with the Saleen Harley truck....
WaxDaddyUK - sorry to hear of your woes. I didn't have the books on my Harley until a few days ago and they are pretty specific about not revving past 5,000 RPM's until 1000 miles. I definitely did that but have since stopped. It also says you need to change the oil at 500 miles (I'm at 520 right now). I know you were just cruising around a corner when it happened, but did you ever redline it during your 150 miles of driving, or was it just around town easy stuff?

I'm looking forward to hitting my 1000 miles...maybe the off the line speed will get better. So far I'm happy with acceleration when driving, but from a stop I was hoping it would take off.

Tampa,

Hey buddy, no hadnt redlined it. The truck now has a total of 528 miles on it. I have only put 163 on it myself here. I was taking it easy at least until I changed the oil at 500 miles. This was gonna happen this weekend. I was then planning a long trip to get the mileage up to the high hundreds until I tried to give it some revs.

Will find out next week what the problem was hopefully and whether the engine will be replaced under warrenty or not.....

Hey guys,
Is there anyway I can get my 07 HD supercharged tuned and not void the warranty? I am actually pretty happy with my truck, but definitely thought it would be faster. I live in NJ. Also, I did redline it first day I got it. The dealership did not tell me not to go over 4000RPM until 500 miles, nothing really happened so I'm pretty happy about that. I love driving this car on the highway, it has so much power! The gas really is horrible though , I just made 10 mpg! Hope you guys start to enjoy the truck as much as I do, as soon as I pass that 1000 mile mark, it should be awesome! Also, how does the supercharged HD drive on snow?

If you have the AWD, you will be OK. If its the 2WD, not so good.

Just drive carefully. Its supposed to get real cold this week in NJ.

I'm in NJ and still have not had to use 4WD.

True, I'm also in NJ, Old Bridge to be exact. I'm waiting for snow to test the car out, but nothing yet!

It is honestly hard to pass 5000RPM on that truck.

Well here's what greeted me when I got down to Mildenhall Autos...
John had striped the engine down and this was the damage......remember this motor has only covered 528 miles......

I test drove one today. Although it kills my King Ranch as far as power, I was not overly impressed. For having 450 hp, I didn't feel it in the seat of the pants. I didn't realize it had a redline of around 5500 either. I dropped it down in 1st and punched it, needless to say the rev limiter kicked in pretty good. Overall good smooth ride, but not exactly what I expected as far as power went.

I would guess that it has been detuned for fuel economy. I also would guess that a good programer would bring it to life.
