Actually doesn't look too bad -- you leave that thing parked outside?

Thanks, and for the moment, I have a big home gym in the garage along with a engine, transmission, harley and other big bulky items. I have a tarp I put over it for now, but we just ordered a car cover for it. Once the brakes are done we're hoping we can put it in the shop to have the trunk and frame rails done.

that gym equipment would be in the living room along with the Harley and other bulky items or else that car would be in a mini-storage unit

IF it were mine

Hahahahaha, the car will be in the garage eventually, figured we'd wait til the car is back from the shop before it goes in the garage for good.

Both sides the coils had snapped one coil off and was just laying the lower control arm......and those shocks.......holy crap. Travway shocks, a quick google search informed me that k-mart carried them back in 1979......I compressed them yesterday when I took them off and they are still compressed. Front end is pretty much stripped clean, I have one lower control arm bolt that is giving me hell but tomorrow it will be out one way or another.

Had a bit of trouble trying to remove the shackles off this old car, so my neighbor came over and helped me slide the rear end out across the leafs. Trying to avoid having to drop the tank and cut off the shackles as much as I can.

removed the gas tank, grinded the heads off of the spring brackets and shackles and torched the bolts too and voila! two broken leaf springs were found. then I had to spend a hour or two trying to get the leaf spring eye bolts out of the brackets and remove the shackle bushings from the frame. i have all the old brake hard lines out and am about to start installing the new booster/master cylinder and hard lines then do the front suspension.

I remember when a guy could pick up a broken down but in good shape Camaro like that for $300. I used a rip saw with a diamond edged blade to cut the bolts on the shackles on my mustang. There was no way to get them un done other wise..

Right, I recall torching them off for someone in the past. I think they were on an old Pinto lol. I carried a torch on the truck at the time. Stopped by after work to cut them off, but the fricken fuel tank was right there and had a little wet spot on it. I bailed, told him to remove the tank and I'll stop back by tomorrow.

tried pulling the rear end apart to pull the axles and remove the drum backing plates and the bolt that holds the centering pin in place snapped in half, so i tried to remove it with an extractor and it broke too. went ahead and dropped it off at pyle bros and they said they should be able to get it out and chase the threads to make sure it's good and i'll have it back soon.

in the meantime, i went ahead and put the new hardlines in up front and hope to do the rear tomorrow, along with installing the new booster/master cylinder.

There are few things in life that can make you cuss more than working on an old car! If something looks like a 15-minute job, plan on it taking three hours......
