Thank you for proving exactly what I was trying to convey. Police officers who overstep their bounds and the refusal of other officers to address this problem. Instead of simply agreeing that yes, there are a few scumbags that hide behind a badge you turn it into cops dying for each other. Since I guess you missed it the first time I will ask you (others can answer also)

Why do good cops cover for the bad ones?

In most other professions the good ones want nothing to do with those who will tarnish their image. Engineers, mechanics, plumbers, body shops, electricians you name it if someone is bad at what they do or cut corners, etc. they will let other people know to stay away, not make excuses for them.

ya know. just curious there jforest. what kinda work do you do for a living?

Oh and by the way one cop dies every 56 minutes in this lovely country of ours. not to take away from c.o's but the odds of them dieing at work is much less than a police /sheriff officer. the unknown weapon or accident is a more greater threat. Cause I never know its there.. in corrections its a captive audience.. too different jobs/ different dangers. just from the way you comment says volumes to me.. but whatever dude.. listen bad cops suck plain and simple and for the most part get called out. but to vilify the over sixty thousand cause you dont like one? Thats just wrong.. but again whatever.. and you wright were not above the law. its civilians that put us on a "higher standard", but we are simply human like the rest. but its a mistake on my job that can cost a life. and when a mistake is made its civilians that rip us apart too. I cant think of many if any jobs that happens too. That on your job , is something you can never comprehend until you are there..

Really, so far in this thread I have not seen one person who claims to be LEO do anything other then give excuses for the bad behavior on the videos. I will admit, there is more to the story but in several of them the officer seemed to be well out of line.

Someone mentioned cops using their blue lights to get around traffic lights. He was called a liar. BS, I have seen cops do this several times with my own 4 eyes. If the officer does something wrong in public he should be called out in public not in some back office in the PD. He is a public official and does his job in public. If he does good he will be publicly praised, which is the way it should be. But it should be a two way street.

You're right no one else has a job where a mistake could lead to loss of life. Except maybe these people too.

I design aircraft. If I do something wrong 15-22 people could be killed in a fiery crash.

If the mechanic puts the wheel on wrong a car full of people could die.

If the electrician doesn't wire the GFCI correctly a person could get electrocuted when the power should be cut.

The list could go on for quite a while, but you should get the point. The real problem is that many of us are regular guys who follow the law. Yet many of us have had issues with arrogant cops who think because of the badge on their shirt they can bully the public and take advantages that the rest of us can not. I'm not saying all cops are bad but there are a few out there that are giving all of y'all a bad rap.

As for dying for your partner, alot of guys that work other jobs do the same thing when emergency arise..

You strike me as the type of guy who would see a funeral procession for a police officer that died in the line of duty and complain it was a waste of tax dollars.

I am done with this topic too. Pretty much going around in circles. Some guys here really hate cops, some here don't.

Yup, your reading comprehension is every bit as bad as your spelling, grammar and sentence syntax. I said in every post, sometimes twice per post I am an engineer. I design the aircraft. I do not change light bulbs (actually most aircraft use leds in the interior to save weight and electrical power) or am I in a union. It is really strange for you to go this route since many public sector workers are in a union. Would this be an admission of guilt?

Also, if your seat did not recline it was more than likely because you were in the row forward of an exit row and the seat is pinned so that it can not recline and block egress from the emergency exit. One of my colleagues did their job correctly and made sure the exit path can not be blocked in an emergency.

Yes, if someone in the aircraft industry misses or causes a failure that results in a crash they will be held accountable. Prison time for manslaughter is an option in severe cases. Unlike cops we can not and do not hide behind some false sense of bravado or unwritten creed to protect our buddies. Our families and loved ones might be on the next flight and we want all flights to be safe.

Or what about the off duty LEO thats doing 95mph down the highway gets pulled over and doesn't get a ticket.. They call that professional courtesy. He was breaking the law he should get a ticket like you or I..

A little while ago a video came out about 1 LEO talking with his buddy in florida lying about a DUI accident.. There you go, putting more lives at risk by trying to cover it up for your partner.... To bad they forgot the video camera was on...

Here's a good one to read...

I like how the cop tells his lawyer that she fell... I've never seen someone fall and get this much injury.....

Glad he got fired but he should also be brought up on aggravated assault charges also...

I am not sure if anyone is really bashing cops, however I feel that some people are rightfully bashing BAD cops and the cops who take up for them. If some douche is abusing his power and you're taking up for him, you're just as guilty, regardless of your brotherhood.

This will be my last post on this subject... The way I see it is if your a LEO and your covering for a fellow officer you in turn are breaking the law also..

If one cop is speeding in his own car he is breaking the law.. If you pull him over and and don't do anything you are breaking the law also by being a sworn officer to protect the public...

I only have a problem with the LEO officers that think they are ABOVE the law and ABUSE the power they THINK they have...

Try a little reality, - It's truly the complete opposite.
