I'd definitely not want to be a cop, because you never know what maniac will blow your head off while you least expect it. There are such shady people out there that look innocent but in a blink of an eye will snap. I also couldn't deal with the lies people tell them, I'd never know which person was telling me the truth! What I have had happen to me was:
I was getting on a highway, definitely going a lot faster than I should've been going. A statey pulls me over, gives me a 'disobeying traffic sign' ticket (which was nice because it didn't cost me points), I thanked him and that was that. I read 2 months later, the cop that pulled me over was arrested for writing $10,000 worth of bad checks!! So my problem - I was pulled over by a criminal!!!!!!!!!! I feel the 'good' cop vs 'bad' cop is probably in the neighborhood of 75% vs. 25%. There are a lot of good cops on the force, its a shame that you can't trust any of them these days...

Every forum Im active in right now has threads like this. Not that they are bad threads because any corruption or excessive use of force needs to be weeded out. My point is that these types of issues are cropping up because I believe the people are becoming very discontent with their government. The police are one of the many faces of government that we see the most therefore they get the most ridicule IMO. I don't know if its right but I think thats why the feel the brunt of the discontent. Also with technology now there are cameras everywhere and everything people do is easily recorded.

There are bad people. Cops are people. The people who hire aren't perfect. It happens.

Except when the cops beat your *** for recording them, even though you're legally allowed to. I think every single instance of confrontation between police/civilians should be recorded, for the protection of both police and the public. there's a lot less guesswork in court when it's all on tape.

O I agree everything should be recorded and most everyone would be on their best behavior then.

That shouldn't apply to an officer that is charged with protecting citizens.. IF there are bad cops they should be replaced with good ones.. THat is not acceptable when it comes to protecting and upholding the law...

Check out this video.. This girl was fighting... Don't know if she started the fight but from what it looks like is she was defending herself from that girl just holding one to her and not knowing what would happen... Stopped fighting and started walking away.. And look at this cop just run up and tackle into her.. All he had to do is have some verbal commands and maybe even tase her.. No need to smash her into the wall like this...

And honestly this is why some cops should get their *** handed to them.. ABUSE OF POWER.......

There is no doubt that people are idiots and most that get confronted by the cops in this way have likely done something to instigate it. That said, they don't have the right to lose their cool and beat someone to a pulp or needlessly shoot someone.

For example that cop out in Oakland that "thought he had his taser" when he shot the guy to death should have fried but he got involuntary manslaughter which carries a slap on the wrist by comparison.

Most cops do a great service to our communities but there are bad ones like in any other group.

This is true, but this is VERY hard to do. You have to look at the overall record of the cop, prove that he is a bad one, back it up with enough evidence to remove him from his job, otherwise it's just discrimination.
Nobody's perfect, you can find a fault with all of them if you look hard enough.

when i was a kid my father taught me to always show the police respect, address them as yes sir and no sir, do as you are asked.

i seriusly doubt that in the posted links that respect was offered.

notice that everyone started out by doing thing mosts of us have never done, drive 8 miles with a police car chasing, driving drunk, being in jail, and a girl that was in an alternate school for bad kids.
i would guess that except for the 8 mile woman, all had had previous encounters with the police.

political correctness will be the end of life as we know it.

While those are good practices, it is not required. Police should also be respectful of the general public.

In no way was it my intention to bash on Police officers, as I said, I do have a high level of respect for them. I can safely say that we all agree that not all cops are good. I specifically pointed out that the bad cops need to be weed out because all they do is give their comrades, the good ones, a BAD name.

Here in the video down below, is a perfect example of what is unlike what you see in the previous videos which indicate the "peace" officers abused their power.

The officer, without losing his cool, kindly asked this *** hat to please remove his hands out of his pocket, not once but 3 times. The tackle was well executed and no one got hurt except for the guy's ego.
