The police have a difficult job to do, I certainly could not do the job. That being said I am very sure that there are some who should not be on the force, some will always slip through the net. If u ever watch "cops" its not unusual to see a number of cops jumping on a suspect etc when probably two could do the job quite adequately. I also laugh when u see a car chase with 20 or so cars following, thats a bit overkill. It also makes u wonder what would happen if there was another call that the police need to respond to in the area if there is anone left to cover it!

 

i tell my kids all the time, in life you dont have to do much to have hugh rewards, just a light more than what is required.

i tend to find that when i show people respect, i get it back. not always but to much for me to change my ways. i dont live life based on what others should do, i try and get ahead of every situation and put my self in the best position to come out on top.

 

Yes, and that is very great and commendable, but it is not required. For me, I respect everyone until they prove that they don't deserve it.

Dang... Take a deep breath and read the whole thread. I dont see where everyone is just bashing police officers here.

And yes, I have seen threads here complaining about contractors, body shops and other types of businesses.

I think everyone here agrees that being a police officer is very stressful. You put up with alot of BS from alot of people. I commend you and thank you for doing the job you do.

So please, take a step back and read the whole thread. If you already did, then re-read it because I dont think everyone who has posted here is bashing you or your profession.

 

this is the general discussion, anything is up for talk. no one is trashing you we are trashing people who abuse their power.

In all seriousness, thank God we have good cops who do what they do. I'd never trash a cop that wasn't abusing his authority.

 

Of course, cops are awesome, just the ones who abuse their power, not so much lol.

 

I did .. Its the start of some b.s thread that gets me all the time....thats the point it shouldnt even be on or worth my breath. But after 17 years in this god forsaken city ive seen more and done more than most people on this site.. Except for the proud soilders i know.. Yet a guy who knowingly speeds wants to trash all cops and show the bad ones to justify... Ahhhhh.. Enuff said.. Im done ,,, btw yes its been a bad day

 

I am not sure where you were going with this. If you were reffering to the OP, I dont see where he was using "bad" cops to justify any illegal activities he may or may not do.

Just like if someone came on here saying that all body shops are crooks and do crappy work. I would not come on here throwing a hissy fit about it. I do work at a body shop. I do care about my customers and want to do a good job for them. Am I human? yes. Do I make a mistake every now and then? yes. But i do my best to make it right and not to make the same mistake twice. I will never say someone should not criticize the bad shops in my industry. They need to be exposed and people need to understand that not every shop is like that.

There are always going to be those people who are going to think we are all crooks and nothing is going to change their mind.

I understand that there are many more threads out there about cops, and alot of them are one sided. Usually not in the cops favor.

I dont mean to rant or argue with you. I guess I just feel you missed the general consensus in this thread about cops.

Trooper Ellen Engelhardt succumbed to injuries sustained eight years earlier when her patrol car was struck by a drunk driver on Route 25 in Wareham.

Trooper Engelhardt was parked on the shoulder of the road when the drunk driver struck the rear or her vehicle at nearly 90 mph. Her injuries left her in a vegetative state and she was unable to speak or communicate.

The driver was sentenced to only 2 1/2 years in prison.

Trooper Engelhardt had served with the Massachusetts State Police for 23 years. She is survived by her daughter.
