^^while I'm no photography expert whatsoever (like I barely even own a digital camera ) my dad used to kind of experiment with a decent camera and he would just take a ton of shots of the sky during a thunderstorm and some of them would just happen to be timed just right to catch the lightning.

was this a long exposure shot? the ghosting of the water makes it seem so. if so, what type of filter do u use?

yes i was on 2 seconds i believe and i didn't have a filter just my canon xs and i was only using the 18-55mm IS lens that came on it so it wasn't anything special with it and i did some editing on iPhoto thats it.
this is badass. i tried lightning ONCE, a long time ago. it's definitely something that takes some patience. but if captured properly makes some sick shots

that's awesome man, can't beat that. I picked my 10D and first lens up for $25, that's what got me started
