Mud trucks you want to keep on the frame. Mud pack will slow you down. Plus body heave. You wait, it will sound like a rattle trap going down the road. It's a cheap way to lift a vehicle, - bad for them in every way. They're even ugly as hell. It's your build, and just my opinion.

how come your not swapping axles at this point instead of building up the sammi's?

I can't wait to see the 39.5s on it. When do you think you'll have them on?

Looks great so far and as for the body lift if the body mounts are good and solid than it isnt too bad my buddies blazer on 42" pitbulls is his daily driver and it had a BL and he has had no problems and its been beat to hell and back and it is fine no rattles or tin can sound. So a vehicle as like as the sami should be fine imo...

i just don't think it'll affect it all that much. right now the whole body/frame sits basically higher than the top of the tires. i'll be stuck long before mud gets high enough to hit my frame. i know there are some people all against the use of body lifts and that seems to be the case here but like you said its your opinion and you're entitled to it. hell i've even got one on my f150, it never rattles and people certainly don't call it a piece.

yeah most people would swap to yota axles but im just trying to stay as light as possible. since this truck is all for mud you can get away with running a smaller axle with a big tire, plus it doesn't have much power to break axle shafts . i've seen a sami on stock axles upgraded and 44's do good and not break then another on yotas and 49's. i figure if he could make it work so could i.

actually if i can't find any 39.5's around here soon i think im going to get some 40x16 ltbs. they're a great tire from what i've heard, plus a set will literally cost half of what the set of boggers cost. the only problem is companies only have them for 17's in stock since interco still isn't back up on their feet after losing a manufacurer.

yeah i figure it'll be fine for what it is, a toy. i have a body lift on my f150 too and it's been through more hell than most mud trucks, i've jumped it several times too haha. still sounds good to me.

heres what happend this past weekend. i hadn't even clearanced out the front driveshaft yet but we wanted to ride so i took it out not even planning on having to use 4wd. well good news, it did great in 2wd since the extra lift but i got into a very small rut turning around and managed to get stuck on relatively flat ground lol. i felt like an idiot.

well as you can see i tried my damndist to get out in 2wd but i eventually put it in 4wd. after dumping the clutch a few times i heard a pop and then there was no more spinning. the rear u-joint broke, no big deal, but also something in the front broke because the front tires don't spin either. im thinking its just a hub since they are still factory and they're not that much to fix.

anywho pics and the last picture is of the 5.38 gears and lockers that came today.

as you can see this wouldn't have happened had i waited a week untill my lockers were in.

i never understood how small the internals were.

I know how ya feel. When I had my quad I'd always be able to make it up the toughest hills, go through deepest/slimiest mud without a problem. Then get home and get stuck in my front yard or something

finally bought some new 39.5x18x15 boggers on wheels from a guy the other day on craigslist. these tires are just too expensive new for me to want to buy them. i found them with no miles on them for what 3 of just the tires would have cost.

i've never seen a samurai with a stock wheel base on 39.5's

Damn that thing looks wicked those tires make the body so small. Not to often that you see them rocking stock wheel base it actually looks really good. Looking kinda like a R/C car now with the little body and big tires.

im not sure about flipping the springs but the spring perches that i have on it have three center pin holes all about an inch apart so you can extend the wheelbase up to 2 inches.
