In most States and cities, GLBT people can be denied access to housing, medical care, employment, service in stores and restaurants, etc., same as it was for African Americans prior to the civil rights acts. Racially mixed marriages were also prohibited. GLBT youth are the top targets for bullying in schools, resulting in the highest number of suicides

As for the rest of this thread, obama sucks and a lot of people don't like him. Add me to the list of people that voted against him in 2008 and hope he is in the unemployment line in January 2013.
Sad part is that the term is 4 years. He has done more to destroy this country ON PURPOSE than any other president we have ever had, and that all in 2 years! We will never be able to evict all the "Trailer Trash" that he has installed in the gov't in just 2 years! I thought B-job Bill was as low as it could get, boy was I wrong!

However, there has been zero conclusive evidence that would lead one to conclusively state that homosexuality is a natural or instinctive trait. For anyone who believes in evolution, you would know that this is against the 'laws' of evolution. Adaptation and evolution is meant to further the species, where homosexuality would technically end it.
Also, historically, homosexuality has been considered a sexual deviancy. The Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc all view it as sinful or evil.
Finally, if you define marriage as the union of a man and woman, homosexual marriages cannot exist. This is where the concept of a civil union comes in handy. The problem with allowing it to be called marriage between homosexuals, is that what about man and horse, woman and dog, etc? Because the definition of marriage can be changed to accommodate homosexual marriage, what about inter-specie marriage or the marriage of inanimate objects? It is a very slippery slope.

The difference with inter-specie marriages is that the animal can't consent. Find me a dog or horse that can verbally communicate with you in a human language to consent to marriage then I'll change my view.
If someone wants to marry an inanimate object like their TV, I'm cool with it as long as they don't try to get health insurance on it!
Just because various religions see homosexuality as sinful doesn't make it illegal in our country. Jews view eating pork as sinful, but I have no plans to give up bacon!

You had stated above the First Amendment insured that government would keep its tentacles out of religion which leads me to believe that you believe religion should lead government.

Would it make you feel any better if we were to abolish any law that is mentioned or followed by any religious institution? That would surely give us the freedom from religion that you are seeking. Go ahead and steal, but be prepared to be stolen from. Go ahead and break any law that has religious roots, but remember that door swings both ways.
Freedom is not defined by doing what ever you want when ever you want, that would be anarchy. However you are free to practice the religion of your choice, not one that is mandated by the government. That my friend is what the first amendment gives you.

1. Obama has never said he approves of same sex marriage. The reason he called off the Justice Dept. from the anti-DOMA cases is because they are most likely unconstitutional.
2. There is no evidence that Obama is not an American.
3. If Obama was really interested in pandering the GLBT vote, he would have been far more actively involved with the repeal of DADT instead of waiting until others had pushed it to the brink, then jumping on board.
4. Have you heard of separation of Church and State (it's in the First Amendment of our Constitution; Google it if you have forgotten)? Religion has no place in government. That is the only way all of us, Christians included, can be assured of religious freedom. Otherwise, the ruling religion will be able to ram their religion down everyone's throats.

We live in a free country, where even if various religions see homosexuality as sinful or deviant behavior, it's not illegal. If I read it correctly, the OP was talking about the legality of same sex marriage, and the hypocracy that our president has engaged in.
