maybe i am missing something but i believe what someone was eluding to is how corporations influence government. they fun pac's, political action commitees, the pac's then wine and dine the elected officials who in turn say screw the people we know better and vote lock step with the corps.

Corporations don't have to vote, they buy the politicians outright and own them lock, stock and barrel. Watch this...

If they have their man in office, it doesn't matter what joe schmoe thinks, they've got what they need.

[quote]Have you ever asked yourself what a corporation was?

Many people envision a corporation as a big building with wealthy people working in them. Hippies view them as people that steal money and pollute the earth. Unions view them as greedy people that don't care about anyone else. Ect.

A corporation is a group of people working together to provide a service and/or product(s) to others. If we just had an empty building with offices, would it still be a corporation? No.

Why should people be limited to how much money they can give to politicians? People should be able to do whatever they want with their own money. [quote/]

Eh, not exactly. A corporation is an entity all by itself whereas the board and the stockholders cannot be held personally liable for certain wrongs the company does, like bankruptcy, etc. It's not the people IN the corporation that need the checks and balances. They, individually, can do whatever pleases them. It's the CORPORATION that shouldn't have a say in Washington. Again, watch the above video.

SS, I've always thought if I don't have anything constructive to add to a conversation, a good rim shot always serves me well.

Now where the heck did I leave that tip jar?

..<snip>....
I live that 98% of the time, as it seems 98% of the time I have nothing to add. It is my own condition, a cross between tourettes and Asperger syndrome.

Tonight we have serotta doing an imitation of Shecky Green, doing an imitation of Henny Youngman, only without the violin.

I keep warning you guys not to laugh or comment, it will just encourage this type of behavior to continue. Does anyone listen to me, nooooooo...
