The ONLY way we as a country are going to dig ourselves out of this bottomless pit is to give back control to the PEOPLE of this country. Right now we are not being governed by the people or for the people. We are being governed by the corporations. If you don't think so look up Citizens United v. FEC. In 2010 the supreme court (notice I did not capitalize that) decided it was not fair that corporations couldn't give whatever amount of money they wanted to political campaigns because it violated the corporation's 1st amendment rights. Now the last time I checked corporations were not people, they were in fact, what people made to PROTECT themselves from people. When we get things straightened up from this and other lobbying reforms we might be able to pull ourselves out of the fire. Until then kiss it goodbye.

Corporations don't vote. The problem is that the U.S. has bred a large population of ignorance coupled with entitlements that vote. Don't forget corporations are owned by stockholders like us. If you don't trust the corporate governance, vote them out. Corporations are not autonomous units that are capable of running a muck and creating anarchy, and it's rather ignorant to blame them for the failure of the populace to vote in responsible leadership. I ask you, how are corporations responsible for O-blame-o?

Have you ever asked yourself what a corporation was?

Many people envision a corporation as a big building with wealthy people working in them. Hippies view them as people that steal money and pollute the earth. Unions view them as greedy people that don't care about anyone else. Ect.

A corporation is a group of people working together to provide a service and/or product(s) to others. If we just had an empty building with offices, would it still be a corporation? No.

Why should people be limited to how much money they can give to politicians? People should be able to do whatever they want with their own money.

Those evil oil corporations:

Federal Tax(per gallon of gas) 18.4 cents
State Tax(per gallon of gas) 10-45 centsdepending on state

Oil companies also pay:

Sales taxes
Inspection Fees
Environmental Fees

Also, don't leave out everyone that is taxed down the line that works for the oil companies and the supply chain that delivers the oil. The products they purchase, the capital they gain, property taxes, the list keeps going...

The average profit margin for the oil companies was 8.3% and that was after taxes.

Government makes anywhere from 4-6 times more per gallon of gas than the provider does.

Who is really making our gas cost so much?

You are to put it in terms of billions of dollars, sounds much worse that way, at least that is what the hippies would have you do.
