Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380
Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380
I've been trying to get my hands on one of these guns since they came out basically as soon as they hit the shelf they are gone. Well yesterday being presidents day means im off since I work at the post office. So I called all the guns shops in town to see if anyone has it all ten shops said no but one shop said they will have one in around 2. I told them to put my name on it and id be there to get it. Needles to say at 1:30 I was there waiting at 1:45 the truck showed up with it as soon as I got my hands on it I was in love its a .380 with a built in laser a perfect pocket pistol I actually bought it for the wife as I have a springfield xd40 subcompact now we are going to get our concealed carry license. I shot 50 rounds through it yesterday without any misfires or jams im very happy with this gun its a very sweet shooting gun.
A buddy of mine told me about this weapon... he went out and purchased one and was talking about how he loves the size and weight of it... I went to the gun shop last night and held it in my hands.
Although it is very nice...weight is great, small and great for CCW..... my concerns are... I have big hands and HATE having any digits hanging off the weapon...and speaking of digits... my other concern would be that... the weapon is so small and I've been trained to draw & secure with 2 hands... when I tried this at the gun shop, my left hand extended past the weapon. There is a concern that I could shoot myself in the hand. obvisouly, if I draw & shoot with one hand, that's not an issue.
My other concerns of this weapon are:
1. The 380 limitation... would that be enough fire power for someone who is wearing a coat and layers that might be beyound 2 or 3 yards away...or someone hopped up on something..
2. I think these are 5 +1...? correct me if I'm wrong. But To back up my first comment... assuming a failure rate of 50% (by that I mean missing my intended target), would that be enough ammo to complete my objective... IMO, I would rather have more ammo and not use it than to have less and run out. Now I'm not saying carry a 33 clip, but 10+ mag seems like a fair amount assuming a failure rate of 50%
3. I've never been much of a "pocket" gun person... regardless if its in a pocket holster or not...frankly, I prefer to have the piece of mind that its always on my body, in the same spot, pointing in the same direction...rather then fumbling around, hoping that it doesn't get caught up in the lining of my pocket, or that a dime or penny is lodged in the trigger guard, or that it somehow didn't get turned around or upside down in my pocket. Again, its a matter of preference...
By no means am I talking down about the weapon... its all about requirements... and you have to list and to some degree "assume" what your requirements are. I think it would be an awesome weapon to have hidden in a car or truck in reach or on a jobsite... or a back up weapon. I can't wait to shoot my buddies to see how it fires...

Its a 6+1 I was concerned if a .380 would have enough stopping power myself but a lot of gun dealers I was talking with said the .380 ammo has came along way from back in the day. I feel like any gun is better than no gun the possibility of ever having to use it is probably slim to none but maybe the sight of a gun and laser pointing at you might scare them off lol. I hope it never has to be pulled on anyone but if the time ever comes at least my wife will have something other than mace.
I can't wait to shoot my buddies to see how it fires...
that is a very nice looking conceal, and I am going to see if I can check one out at some gun shops local to me, only bad thing about FL is without a concealed permit we have to wait 3 days after purchase to pick it up. I got all I need to get my permit but I just have to wait to get it now.
to anyone in florida--------in case you dont know it, if you are a veteran and have a dd214 with an honorable discharge you dont have to take a ccw course. take the dd214 in and get fingerprinted, photographed and give them a check.
