It's hard to believe the number of people in that poll that rely on a kel-tec for personal protection.

Why is that, I have a kel-tec .380 and never had a problem with it?

The Ruger LCP and Taurus TCP are basically clones of the Kel Tec .380. My guess would be so is the Smith .380 but I haven't seen one of those in person yet. While I agree Kel Tec isnt know for fine guns the P3AT is a solid weapon.

Bnkrupt - I like that little Ruger. I've got a Ruger MK1 that was my Dad's before he passed away last May but it's like new - great for plinking. Just recently picked up a Ruger P95 for the truck. It does have a safety but there is a conversion kit to remove it and I may go that direction. Wanted a Glock but the budget wasn't there for now.

I have to agree with Pa Snake on the little SW380 - I don't like shooting anything where my pinky hangs loose. Is there an extended mag for that pistol that might solve that and the low capacity?

And it's interesting here to read everyone who caries concealed. In Louisiana we can carry in our vehicle as an extension of our homes with no permit required. Anyone look into open carry?

No open carry here and you have to have a permit to even have a pistol in NY or you go directly to jail for a mandatory 1 year term no exceptions.. CCW here is hard to get.

Open Carry is permitted here in PA, however I'm told that there are some area's (townships) that do not honor the open carry law of the state. I'm not sure how that works... My understand was, if a county, township, etc... is in the state of PA, then you were permitted to open carry..

Also, you DO NOT need a permit or CCW to open carry here... Please let me state that I DO NOT condone open carry... frankly, I think it bring much un-needed attention. Case-in-point.... the other night I went to sports authority and was waiting in line behind a family.... I had an OWB leather holster on and a jacket over top... aparently the holster was sticking below the jacket I was wearing... I saw the two kids... ages about 10 to 12 keep looking at my side. And honestly, I had no idea what they were looking at until the one kid pulled on his dads arm for him to lean down..and he wispered something in his hear. Then I knew something wasn't right, so I quickly turn torwards the right a little bit and felt my jacet...and sure enough it was sticking below the jacket about 2 or so inches...so I simply readjusted and everythign was cool...

Nothing was said, but I could imagine what would have been said if it was in the open...
