Good post SSCULLY. Many new members come in unaware of the Articles and How Tos, some may not understand what the "stickies" are or how to use the Search feature. I find it works best to try to answer their question to the best of my ability and politely tell them about the Advanced Search. Hopefully, they learn to use it for future reference.

Answering the same questions over and over does get old, but sometimes, new information comes out of those threads. Evolvement.

I know I have come up with better ideas the 2nd and 3rd time around on a topic.
As well, new threads ( by new members ) on a repeat topic yield the solution and steps to a problem more often than not.
This gets the I have XYZ happening, with a list of what was tried, and what the ultimate solution was, and the thread is not 5 years old, with no answer, just a list of what should be tried ( you know, what an advance search produces on the correct terms used ).

This is one of my favorite posts to the thread above :

Too bad there is not a filter on posts that have the term " Use the search" so it counts the posts the same as the GD forum... Some post counts on members would drop by 20% if this could be done

Why would you even think of using that feature when you are searching for information?

Before you post a new thread in a particular forum, review the sticky list!

just in case you are serious.

At the top of most forums, you see threads that stay at the top of that forum. It's because they have been designated o do so with a "stickie". They get this designation as they contain very imformative info that is asked repeatedly.

Such as this forum.

No, that's not it. I didn't get him until I moved out to the country. (I got him in Oklahoma . . . there's nothin' but country / hick in that cat.).

Last night I was workin' on a project and the cat is running around, sliding on the floor, bouncing off the walls and then hopping around (not a lot, just intermittently) but I saw no reason for him to exhibit such behavior. (usually, it is caused by a spider . . . he goes nuts and tortures them)

I later found out it was tiny flying insect.

I was starting to suspect the cat was dropping acid again. He used to do that. Cats on acid is a frightening thing to see.
