I'm not saying you spend your life worrying about everything but as a judge in the criminal system I see day after day people before me who have not had the intelligence to see the consequences of their actions.

Only after they have shot or stabbed someone does it suddenly occur to them that there may be consequences.

In the same way texting while you are driving can have consequences..hence laws made to guard against such eventualities.

I'm so sorry you can't see the sense of taking all the measures you can to prevent possible accidents.

Accidents happen all the time.....thats why they are called ACCIDENTS.

It is not an accident if you do something that is proven by research to contribute to situations on the road which could possible cause death.

If you were before me in court it would be called "Causing death by negligence or possibly manslaughter"
wonderful

While your statement makes perfect sense to me and others, I can't help but laugh at the first thing that came into my head when I read it. Something about "casting pearls before....."

Hi Pal,

Nice to hear from you again.

I don't come to this 'discussion' forum very often, but I think it must be apparent why not !!!

Maybe all three of you could try getting a life instead of spending all your time on internet forums criticizing people for texting and driving. Its its so damn important to you maybe you guys should start a club and make some t-shirts.

P.S I wear a medium

That wasn't even close to a defence of your pathetic attitude that attempts to find a reason for texting.

Maybe you might get eventually get the idea into your addled brain that there IS NO DEFENCE for texting whilst driving.
GROW UP !!!!

Brad..
If you or any moderators are watching...and I'm sure you are....there is every chance that this could get (Is getting) personal and abusive.

I'm just as guilty as anyone but before anyone is tempted to pull the plug please bear in mind how strongly some of us feel about a subject that to most of us is clear as day !

I accept that if you live in a rural area in the middle of Kansas then it's quite possible you could go on texting at the wheel for years with no problem.

However try doing it on the Katy freeway in Houston, the London Orbital Motorway, or a German Autobahn doing over a 100 mph and you won't last the day.

I know we are only talking about Stateside, but lawmakers can't differentiate between what is suitable on one road and not another.
Even within those States that do make their own laws there will be many situations where it is just not sensible.

Again we are talking about CONSEQUENCES, but you know what....the person I blame the most is the person who started the whole damn thread.

How it entered anyone's head that there could be any pros to texting while driving is beyond my comprehension.

There is no defense either. It is stupid to text and drive. We have all done stupid things though and learned from them. Hopefully the selfish people texting while driving will learn their lesson without injuring someone else.

Your guilt feelings are evident from your first paragraph. It would not be my intention to continue to pile on, however, you have to soul search and do the right thing while you are driving.
Driving is probably the most important and dangerous thing most people do their entire lives, don't minimize the job.

Could go either way. This spelling is more the British vernacular.

I say we have a new rule for texting threads. They must be locked before they get past the first page. Everyone is dead set on why or why not it should or could be done. No one will ever change anyones mind so lets drop it and move on. No since in all this nonsense. I say lock thread.
