i can txt while driving its simple. you put ur phone on top of the steering wheel so you can still see while txting. or memorize the key board. sometimes i just dont look at the screen. pretty easy to do. ive never found my self wondering in other lanes or anything.

Complete BS. Unless you are still in the dark ages you do not need to hold your phone or even look at it. I press one button on the side of my Blackberry and say "Call Home" That is it. Both hands are on the wheel for the rest of the conversation. I do not have to type or read replies and responses. When I am done I just press a button on my headset. Two button presses that took less time than changing a song on the radio.
Texting while driving is stupid no matter how good you are at it.
Speaking on a hands free phone is no more distracting than talking to your passengers. Passengers can actually be worse sometimes.

Yes i have a blackberry too. The point of my previous post wasn't that having one hand off the wheel makes you a bad driver, it was about the distraction of constantly talking to somebody. Plus you cannot have a conversation with anyone else in the car, listen to the radio, or have a private conversation without everyone in the car knowing whats going on while on the phone.

My steering wheel cover holds my phone while I push the buttons and I can look at the road ... it works!

Idiot !!

You'll be WONDERING if you ever kill someone, why you WANDERED into the lane you shouldn't be in while texting!!

Everyone thinks they are so clever until the moment it's too late...and it WILL happen.
Sooner or later...softly softly catchee monkey.

I just hope you never have to come face to face with the kin of someone who has been killed because of you phoning or texting whilst driving.

Whatever the pathetic excuses and lame effort you make to justify doing it, your mind is not 100% on the job of driving.

Spend a bit of your valuable life learning the art of grammar and spelling instead.

What is this spelling and grammar you speak of?? i know nothing of it.

90% of the time when my phone goes off and im driving i just put it on silent till i get to were im going. the other 10% i need directions to were im going or something. i dont carry on a convo that has nothing to do with nothing if im driving.

Shifty: Why waste your time justifying yourself man? He has obviously got his own opinion set in his mind already. Just do your thing and worry about yourself. When something ACTUALLY happens is when you need to start worrying about it. **** happens all the time, and you dont even have to be texting. Hell, if you are driving a toyota your throttle could stick and you could accelerate uncontrollably.. no phone involved

yeah ive noticed when people voice there opions on here its there way is the right way cant argue it because there right.

heck even on my F150 ive had the pedal get stuck under the floor mat once or twice. but i can get my foot under it and bring it back up. and if i cant do that i put it in neutral and shut it off. not hard to do. i think toyota should issue that TSB to everyone since there not going to recall it lol.

Pardon...are you serious ?

You write where as 'were' and think there is nothing wrong with your spelling.

I think you seriously need to rethink your philosophy on life.

You DO NOT start worrying about something when it actually happens !!

This is what is wrong with a large section of our populations, and the resultant surge in our societies problems.

Its called CONSEQUENCES.

I'm not saying you spend your life worrying about everything but as a judge in the criminal system I see day after day people before me who have not had the intelligence to see the consequences of their actions.

Only after they have shot or stabbed someone does it suddenly occur to them that there may be consequences.

In the same way texting while you are driving can have consequences..hence laws made to guard against such eventualities.

I'm so sorry you can't see the sense of taking all the measures you can to prevent possible accidents.

Accidents happen all the time.....thats why they are called ACCIDENTS.

It is not an accident if you do something that is proven by research to contribute to situations on the road which could possible cause death.

If you were before me in court it would be called "Causing death by negligence or possibly manslaughter"

A guy I know from school...

Last thursday he was coming of an exit ramp while talking on the phone. Drove intoa crur and took a chunk out of his 20" wheel on his Ram 1500 sport. Like one of those big granite curbs. Have I texted while driving? Like one word answers and I mean few and verryyyy far between. Usually I have my phone on silent in my pocket and if its on vibrate and I get a text that I was expecting or call... I pull over into a lot and respond.

Everyone thinks they are invincible. I laugh when I hear people say they do a good job at both. That guy with the ram admitted he looked away for a second or two. That's all it takes. By doing this, you are helping take away the lower levels of the gene pool if you crash and get killed. Don't be stupid.
